When you're 6 goals up at half-time you know the opposition has one more shot. So you know if you have a big first 10 minutes of the third quarter you can put them away for good and break any remaining spirit of theirs. We come out instead half asleep. No killer instinct!
I was suss after our rnd 1 loss to gold coast even though they were 2 men down before halftime, and then getting overrun by carlton game in round 2 when they were underdone confirmed it. As the season progresses and we get match hardened it will be less of an issue, but gee wiz we are miles off it early on in the season, obviously our preseason program is not good enough

The problem of fitness has been exaggerated by ridiculous split rounds meaning we have had a couple of longer breaks (as is the case this week) which seems to put back our match hardening and keeps us behind other teams.

Dominating the first 5 minutes just can't get it on the board. 2 points and an out on the full from 3 shots.
