A few weeks back had some guy calling to ask if I could change the brushes in his Ozito grinder. Told him that I'm surprised it lasted long enough for the brushes to wear out and even if I did have any it would be more expensive than just going down to Bunnings to buy another one

I tell you what I do for some of my gear, I get the odd bit from Aldi. I got a disk / belt sander, it was a re-badged Scheppach cept it cost half as much.
Nearly anything German is good. I just left it off my list

my trade is electric motors and with the exception of Weg (Brazilian) the German motors like ABB, Siemens and Flygt (pumps) wipe the floor with everything else. That goes with tools too but the Panasonic drills and impactors in our shop get abused and still go strong. Fond memories of Hitachi too. The japs know what they are doing as well.
I only once bought a heap of cheap soldering irons from Aldi. All I can say is never again

they were melting the plastic handles and slow tripping the breaker
