« on: May 23, 2014, 03:42:09 PM »
looking back at Richmonds whipping boys over the years, are the class of 2014 much worse?

ill throw a few names up:

the past: G Tivendale, J McMuffin, A Fiora, J Bowden, Gaspar, Holland, Merenda

class of 2014: Vickery, Griggs, Edwards, Hampson , Chumplin.

Was Gas a whipping boy? Choco Merenda wasn't that bad of a whipping boy, maybe late in his career.

Joel did cop it so did Tivendale but I liked him, Tambling must be put in there.

Our whipping boys now days are awful players, Chaplin... awful... Chuck in Petterd as well.

Who was the longest whipping boy, that's the question, it shows how long we keep poo players for. Edwards is a classic example, 8 stuffing years and more to come. Tiv and Bowden were much better than Edwards and shouldn't even be on this list.
DIMMA - You will be held ACCOUNTABLE...

“We are really excited about what we have brought in. We have got great depth of players that can take us where we need to go. We are just putting some cream on the top at the moment,” he said.

A whipping boy isn't necessarily a poor footballer. A whipping boy can be a target of the chicken littles eg Joel Bowden even though he was a very good footbaler.

Ben Holland would have to win the award of biggest whipping boy
Played 125 games at Punt Rd which 5 were brilliant earning Brownlow votes ( you teased us Ben ) the other 120 were totally useless averaging 6.4 kicks a game
Then wanted $400 a year and went to Melbourne
He was well whipped by then !!

Joel and Gas should not be in that group.

Tivendale was descent early as was Merenda.

Fiora and Mclovin were useless from day one.

That being said the class of 2014 is far worse IMO. Edwards and Grigg make the others look like champions

You forgot Kane Pettifer. GAWD, how I used to despise him, calling him everything from Petticoat to Pitiful.

add Rewoldt, he is top of my cracking whip for years. Nothing worse then a player who sooks & points when he spends more time laying on the ground. gee he even trips over his own feet  ;D

Bowden -talented but soft & unaccountable. Wasted career.

Grigg =/= JON

Edwards < Tambling

Hampsud < Graham

Thomas =/= Farmer

The crime of the current duds that exceeds those of duds past is that they're dragging down & killing the careers of arguably the three most talented players we've had at the club since the early 80's in Deledio, Martin & Cotchin and we'll probably lose at least the latter two eventually because of it.

Joel Bowden deserves better than that from the Richmond supporters
