Aaron Davey may be playing his first game for our VFL side this weekend.

AARON Davey’s run in West Preston-Lakeside’s senior team could be short-lived despite his impressive debut against Heidelberg on Saturday at Warringal Park.
Davey, who played 178 AFL games for Melbourne, was one of the Roosters best in their 13.8 (86) to 9.11 (65) loss to North Football League Division 1 leaders Heidelberg.
While his form would warrant automatic inclusion for West Preston’s clash with Whittlesea this weekend, coach Frank Raso expects Davey to return to Victorian Football League club Richmond.
“I think the Tigers will really want to get him back in the side,” Raso said.
“They really wanted him to have one hit-out after so many months out.
“I dare say he’d be back with Richmond this week.”
Davey racked up possessions across half forward in his first game for months, showing the poise and precise kicking that made him a favourite of Demons’ fans.
Raso said the 30-year-old’s skills were a cut above.
“It was his first run for the year (so) he blew up a bit,” he said.
“His ball use was great, his efficiency was just a class above the rest.”
Davey is listed with the VFL Tigers for 2014, but has aligned himself to play at West Preston when he is not selected by Richmond coach Tim Clarke.
The Tigers play Essendon at the ME Bank Centre this weekend in the first game of a split round, but their VFL bye coincides with the Northern Football League’s week off.
The Tigers only other bye for the remainder of the season is on Saturday, July 19, opening the door for Davey to play against Whittlesea in Round 13 at J.E Moore Park.
