THE STAKES are high for Port Adelaide after three losses in its past four games. After a barnstorming first half of the season, the Power have been bumped from first on the ladder to third in the past fortnight and need to regroup to keep a foothold in the race for a top-two spot.

Finals are out of the question for Richmond, but pride is on the line. The Tigers need to regain some respect in their last seven games and they have shown in quarters and halves their best football is competitive. Attention will turn to list management at Punt Road and fringe players will be desperate to show their worth in the run home.

1. In-form Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin won three Brownlow Medal votes when these sides last met, finishing with 33 possessions and 13 marks. The match was effectively over at half-time after the Tigers kicked 11 goals to four.

2. Port Adelaide is ranked No.1 in 2014 for marks inside 50, averaging 14.1 a game. Port goalkicker Jay Schulz is ranked No.3 in the League, taking 54 grabs in attack.

3. Only the Western Bulldogs have laid more tackles than Port Adelaide in 2014, with the Power averaging 71.2 a game. Richmond is ranked equal 12th with 63.3 per game.

4. These teams have met just three times at Etihad Stadium, with Port Adelaide holding a 2-1 advantage and winning the most recent clash at the venue in round 22, 2010.

5. In the first 12 rounds this season Port Adelaide's average scores for and against were 111 and 74 points. Since round 13 that has changed to 89 and 78 respectively.

An upset win over Port -who would've clearly hit a wall with 3 consectutive losses-  will only serve to further the delusion that this was just an "off year" and we're really "not that far away"....cue minmum draft picks/kids and more recycled top-ups.

I wonder how Deledio will pull up during this game. If memory serves me correctly last time we played Port, Deledio went untagged and when they finally put Cornes on him he ran circles around him. If Deledio can't break away from an ancient Cornes then clearly we need to rest his god damn achilles for the ENTIRE remainder of the season.

Hinkley talked up Richmond's recent form, claiming the Power would have to be at their best to return to the winners' list.

Not a bad quarter but geez we make a lot of poor decisions, still cannot fathom our movement to the forward pockets, as soon as we go down the middle we look so much more dangerous.Think Cotch has been possessed by by a poor skilled footy ghost, turnover king.
