THE STAKES are high for Port Adelaide after three losses in its past four games. After a barnstorming first half of the season, the Power have been bumped from first on the ladder to third in the past fortnight and need to regroup to keep a foothold in the race for a top-two spot.

Finals are out of the question for Richmond, but pride is on the line. The Tigers need to regain some respect in their last seven games and they have shown in quarters and halves their best football is competitive. Attention will turn to list management at Punt Road and fringe players will be desperate to show their worth in the run home.

WHERE AND WHEN: Etihad Stadium, Sunday July 13, 1.10pm AEST

LAST FIVE TIMES
R7, 2013, Richmond 18.6 (114) d Port Adelaide 10.13 (73) at AAMI Stadium
R23, 2012, Richmond 16.10 (106) drew with Port Adelaide 16.10 (106) at the MCG
R6, 2012, Richmond 13.13 (91) d Port Adelaide 8.6 (54) at AAMI Stadium
R10, 2011, Port Adelaide 13.11 (89) d Richmond 10.14 (74) at TIO Stadium
R22, 2010, Port Adelaide 18.14 (122) d Richmond 16.16 (112) at Etihad Stadium

THE SIX POINTS

1. In-form Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin won three Brownlow Medal votes when these sides last met, finishing with 33 possessions and 13 marks. The match was effectively over at half-time after the Tigers kicked 11 goals to four.

2. Port Adelaide is ranked No.1 in 2014 for marks inside 50, averaging 14.1 a game. Port goalkicker Jay Schulz is ranked No.3 in the League, taking 54 grabs in attack.

3. Only the Western Bulldogs have laid more tackles than Port Adelaide in 2014, with the Power averaging 71.2 a game. Richmond is ranked equal 12th with 63.3 per game.

4. These teams have met just three times at Etihad Stadium, with Port Adelaide holding a 2-1 advantage and winning the most recent clash at the venue in round 22, 2010.

5. In the first 12 rounds this season Port Adelaide's average scores for and against were 111 and 74 points. Since round 13 that has changed to 89 and 78 respectively.

6. Matt White's move from Richmond to Port at the end of last season has helped his form significantly, with the midfielder sitting at a career-high 109th overall in the Official AFL Player Ratings, brought to you by Gatorade. He is ranked No.33 overall in the AFL for average points this season.

Prediction: Port Adelaide by 26 points

Must MUST lose game.  Doubt they will let us down although I expect they will try to for a quarter.

this game will show where the Tigers are really at this season. l think we are better than Port & if we come away with the 4 points in a close battle,  then l will be more than happy.

Are you bi-polar?

An upset win over Port -who would've clearly hit a wall with 3 consectutive losses-  will only serve to further the delusion that this was just an "off year" and we're really "not that far away"....cue minmum draft picks/kids and more recycled top-ups.

I wonder how Deledio will pull up during this game. If memory serves me correctly last time we played Port, Deledio went untagged and when they finally put Cornes on him he ran circles around him. If Deledio can't break away from an ancient Cornes then clearly we need to rest his god damn achilles for the ENTIRE remainder of the season.

Hinkley talked up Richmond's recent form, claiming the Power would have to be at their best to return to the winners' list.

"They're as good as any side when they're up and about…they may have won a couple in a row an we've lost a couple in a row, so when you look at that you go 'who's in form, who's not in form?'" he said.

"We've got to absolutely bring our best game to give ourselves a chance.

"I know that the Richmond Football Club and 'Dimma' (Damien Hardwick) will be up for the challenge.

"They're already saying they want to take a big scalp and they see us as that scalp at this stage – well we hope to take their scalp."

Tigers up by 5 points at qtr time. Dare I say it, our mistakes keeping them in the game.
Lloyd looks very dangerous in our F50.
Hope we can keep up the pressure on their running game, they are tight for space.
It's that simple Spud

Not so many dinky 1m handballs that quarter.  Also made some good tackles.  Dunno when our defenders are going to learn to kill marking contests thought.

Not a bad quarter but geez we make a lot of poor decisions, still cannot fathom our movement to the forward pockets, as soon as we go down the middle we look so much more dangerous.Think Cotch has been possessed by by a poor skilled footy ghost, turnover king.

Two more marking contests that should have been killed.  One form Chaplin and one from Batch.  Cost another goal.
