Play each other once or twice no inbetweens. The competition is compromised in its current state and a big joke tbh.

I like the idea of once and rotating from home and away each year, like the NFL. 22 round season is great if your team is doing well, but there are way too many dead rubbers past mid season currently.

Agree.

No pre-season comp, no byes, 34 rounds (each plays each other twice - 1 home, 1 away), season starts in mid February, finals run through October.  Increase the list size, each player only allowed to play a maximum of 28 games during the home and away season and they must miss a minimum of 4 reserves games as well to ensure they get at least 4 weekends off.  It's up to the clubs how they best manage their playing group over the season - who plays against who, and would make team structure selections against different teams more critical each week.

Just an idea.

I just like watching footy. Id prefer 44 rounds plus 4 weeks of finals and 4 weeks holiday.

Agree - and bring back the mid-week comp. as well.

Don't NBA players play 2-3 times a week for months and play All star games although not at full on intensity.
NBA is not an accurate comparison. The top players average around 40 minutes per game total. Mid tier players around 15 to 20 mins. It is also a non contact sport.

No sport is going to compare to each other perfectly but the point was they rock up and bust a gut and run full tilt each time and have to find time for training.

AFL players are a bunch of softies.  NRL players play a brutal Origin game on the Wednesday and back up for their club on the Friday/Saturday/Sunday.  European soccer teams do the same for Europe/EPL/FA Cup etc.

Agree, softcox.
Harriet O'bama Badadadada La Bomba reckons they could play 30 games a year, not surprisingly, no-one backed him up. The one time he wasn't being a flog.
Once a flog, always a flog. No exceptions.

Like the idea but one big issue, ground availability

From Feb to end of March + 3 weeks in October - no MCG, SCG, Gabba, Adelaide Oval. Four main grounds not available

Where do you play the GF? No blockbuster games until they become available.

It's easy WP, ban pyjama cricket and that frees up the grounds for a real sport.

:lol :lol , would be fantastic

But seeing the cricket os the "controling" body of each of the grounds reckon there's more chance of me making by debut for the tigers in 2015 than getting the cricket nuffers to agree to that   ;D

Pretty sure the SACA will be moving the state games away from Adelaide Oval. IIRC was a key part of the negotiations for the redevelopment. They also had to agree to use a drop-in wicket.

MCC are just stubborn twats.

There is only on solution to cricket problem,   Money !!! They will play in front of the 2000 they get to state games anywhere if you give them enough cash. Most of the big drawing stuff is in between end of October and end of Jan. They dont need the big grounds outside of these times.  They could make this work if there was enough money in it.

The other option I have thought of is two divisions (east/west) of 9 teams that get to play home and away (16 games) and then 1 game against each of the non division side each year (alternate  home and away each year) for another 9 games. Total 25 Games

Breakdown could be (example only)
West :  Frem, WCE, Adel, Port, WB, Geel. Ess NM, Carl
East : Bris, GC, Syd, GWS, Rich, Haw, Stk, Coll, Melb
Advantages of this

1) Consistent draw each year.
2) Travelling will be about the same for teams.
3) Allows for "Derby" games and for the building of division rivalry.

Its just another option and there are really no answers that will please everybody.
