Yeah or Neah - 8. Kayne Pettifer
« on: August 02, 2005, 02:57:48 PM »
A much improved year from Kayne on a HFF. Played every game this season (never played more than 10 previously) with 23.13 goals from 18 games averaging 12.6 disposals and 4.6 marks. He's kicked almost as many goals in 2005 as he did in his whole first 4 years.

Do we perserve with him or does he have trade value?

I'd keep him.

He gives us a very mobile target on the forward line who's a strong mark and good kick for goal. Also he seems to have improved under Tezza and I reckon he can get better.

Does he have trade value - 12 months ago NOPE but now he certainly does but as I said I'd keep him

Perserve I say.

Pettifer is on th verge of arriving as a player having been given a chance to prove himself and get some self belief.

I think that is what Wallace is trying to achieve with the likes of Tivendale, Hilton and Chaffey.

For years now we have had players not given a chance to develop and consequently we do not have a dearth of players on our list between 23 and 27 which is the time when they should be at their peak as a footballer.

If we continue to cast aside players reaching this age group we will continue to get nowhere in the future.

I used to beat the KP drum that under Dud he was never given a run and I think I was fairly accurate. I was happy with his first 10 rounds but has gone off the boil since...what does that mean? He is a bit player and will never exceed that.

If we get 30 goals a season from a bit player....Ill take it and run. KEEP.

As a former Pettifer hater I must say I'm happily wearing his new form.

Send him 'round one more time.
A 1 year contract at the end of the year could be the right incentive for him to go all the way.
If he doesn't show furhter improvent in 06 w could cut our costs and let him go.

I'd trade him if I could get a decent draft pick for him, top 25-30 pick.

Talented player which gets alot of frees. Also a beutiful kick.

Sadly, one of the softest players in the league

Last year I would have said let him go.  This year he has improved.  Let him stay and see how he goes next year.

Pettifer on club corner
« Reply #9 on: August 23, 2005, 12:55:29 AM »
Kayne Pettifer was also on club corner:

* He knew he could have been delisted at the end of last year but Terry saw something that he could still offer. This year was a crunch year for him. He had a ankle injury before Christmas which interrupted his pre-season but got an opportunity in the practice matches and after the first few rounds gained a fair bit of confidence. He's enjoying playing back in the forward line and hopes he gets another contract at the end of the year.

* Royal said Pettifer's had a terrific season. A good effort to kick 30 goals and play every game.

Yeah, Pettifer's earned that.

Definitely keep. He's in the age group we need and is one of the VERY few players we have with genuine skill and a good footy brain. Is able to kick goals and also hit targets with precision passes...something sorely lacking in most of our players. His weighted pass to Tuck in between several Doggies the other week was a gem.
