Tigers football manager Dan Richardson said he could put no time frame on the Rance negotiations, but he is similarly confident about the All-Australian defender's future.
"All indications from Alex, similar to Dustin, is that he's very happy at Richmond," Richardson said.
"He's focused on preparing himself for the season ahead.
"I'm sure at some stage we'll be standing up here and making similar announcements.
"At the moment, it's certainly not a distraction."
Rance qualifies for free agency at the end of this season.
"There's no doubt free agency has changed the landscape a little, particularly for the higher-profile players," Richardson said.
"Everybody anticipated that would be one of the impacts ... that's just something you have to manage your way through."
