Three Crows headline the 2015 crop of free agents
Nick Bowen
afl.com.au
October 18, 2014

NEXT year's big-name free agents won't need to tell their managers to show me the money.

Prospective 2015 free agents such as Patrick Dangerfield, Tom Hawkins and Trent Cotchin can rest assured they will be shown the money without any such fight. By their own clubs. And by rival clubs in even larger amounts.

.... in free agency's three-year existence, no club has kept a restricted free agent by matching a rival offer.

Adelaide is not the only club in free agency's crosshairs next year.

The club-by-club list below contains a small selection of the players who can field free agency offers next year.

The managers of players such as Hawkins, Cotchin, Robbie Gray, Alex Rance, Scott Selwood and Jack Steven will be swamped with offers.

But history tells us some of these players won't be on the AFL's official free agency list when it's released early next year.

When AFL.com.au released its preliminary list of 2014's free agents in December last year, it contained 70 players..... with just five of those players joining new clubs in the recent free agency period.

Herald-Sun's top 10 targets in next year's trade/FA period:

1. Jeremy Cameron (GWS) -  out of contract
2. Patrick Dangerfield (Adel) - free agent
3. Adam Treloar (GWS) - out of contract
4. Rory Sloane (Adel) - out of contract
5. Dylan Shiel (GWS) - out of contract
6. Jack Steven (St K) - out of contract
7. Adam Tomlinson (GWS) - out of contract
8. Scott Selwood (WCE) - free agent
9. Devon Smith (GWS) - out of contract
10. James Aish (Bris) - out of contract

------------------------------------------------------

5. Dylan Shiel (GWS)

Midfielder

Age: 21 Games: 50

Contracted until end of 2015

Would you want to play at the club where your (possible) future father in law coaches? Shiel’s partner is the daughter of Richmond coach Mark Williams and it is understood Williams has been talking Shiel up a as a future superstar for years. Richmond made a public pitch for Shiel two years ago and will go hard again next year. The Tigers had a big war chest of cash this year but kept it up their sleeve with something in mind next season. Tigers’ fans will salivate at the prospect of Trent Cotchin, Dustin Martin, Reece Conca, Anthony Miles and Shiel all in the midfield.

Need to sew up Cotchin and Rance, we don't need that pressure while we are trying to get Shiel.

But watch us stuff it up.

“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Sewing up Cotchin and Rance are the least of our worries.
With absolutely no improvement in our list this year bottom place is becoming!
Watch all our stars walk out as we begin a full rebuild Bulldogs style ;)

Stop with the petty and childish insults and stick to the topic

It is pretty clear that you are all quite capable of debating the topics without throwing in the insults.

Suggest you all do that

Ah the edit.
I think some of what WAT posts makes sense, it would be good to stitch up Rance, Martin and Cotchin first before turning our attention to out of contract or free agency.
Seems obvious I know but I'd like to understand WATs basis for saying we will stuff it up? Not sure we've lost too many players of any note over the years.
