AFL 2015: how many games will your team win, can they beat the line?
Herald-Sun
January 18, 2015

HOW many games will your team win in 2015?

With just over two months before the season begins, SuperFooty experts Jay Clark and Gilbert Gardiner assess every club’s prospects.

PREDICTED WINS IN 2015

HAWTHORN    16
SYDNEY         16
PORT ADEL.    15
FREMANTLE    14.5
GEELONG       13.5
NORTH MELB. 13.5
ADELAIDE      11.5
ESSENDON    11.5
----------------------
RICHMOND     11.5
WEST COAST 11.5
GOLD COAST  11
COLL'WOOD   10
BRISBANE       9.5
CARLTON        9.5
GWS GIANTS   6.5
W.BULLDOGS   6.5
MELBOURNE     5.5
ST KILDA         4.5

RICHMOND (line: 11.5)

Jay Clark: OVER

Doubt the Tiger fans will put up with a repeat of last year’s 3-10 start. They are a lot better than that, and importantly, a lot healthier this year than at the same point last season. The average games played for the Richmond playing list is just a tick over 100, which puts them on a par with the average finalist in recent years. In other words, it’s time for the Tigers. Ben Lennon will add some class in his second season and David Astbury and Ben Griffiths showed plenty last season. We know Cotch, Lids, Dusty and Ellis are a top-line midfield group and the game plan creases that plagued the team early last season should be ironed out.

Gilbert Gardiner: OVER

Must close the gap between their best and worst to not only sneak into the final eight, but measure up against the top sides. Richmond can be vulnerable against the lower ranked sides and 50-50 at best at knocking over those around them in Essendon, North Melbourne, Collingwood etc. Take on trust.

And then been smashed in the finals two years like we don't belong there.

In reality we could finish anywhere from 6th to 12th this year but if you are that convinced the top 8 is a lock then tab are paying $2.00 to finish top 8 so feel free to double your money

Whilst u still follow the team, I have no issue
With Nykbe saying we're to finish 9th.

I agree.

They'll be total rubbish in 2015. Lol

I have it on good authority we could finish anywhere from 1st to 17th* this year.

*17 team comp as Essendon can't field a team

Yeah but I live in this reality. We ain't finishing top 4 and, well, if we finish as low as 17th I'll give it away.

Who is your good authority btw, puff the magic centaur?

I have had a couple of drinks tonight so I may be reading this wrong but going off these two clowns predictions there is going to be a lot of draws this years with 13 teams with .5 next to there wins. Even better there is an uneven number which means someone has a draw with nobody.
I have a good feeling about 2015, although I had the same feeling at the start of 2014. I think it's more hope than anything else.  :thumbsup

Am I right in saying the line is a punting term for the break even point for a team and they are both saying we will finish above the line, ie win more games and be in the 8?

we made the 8 in the last round by less than a goal from a fast finishing sydney who had nothing to play for. one kick the other way and we finish 11th on percentage. if that is not middling i dont know what is.

these blokes are basically saying we are a middling team 7th thru 12th more like 7th thru 14th. and they arent wrong.

yep its a punting term and they are saying we will finish above the line. trouble is they have 10 teams finishing above the line,  so making the 8 is no given. again id say they are correct.

It means nothing to me big tone but the 11.5 is the "line" something to do with betting isn't it?

Anyways.....

Gil Gardiner has been with the HUN a while now reporting on other sports.

Has now been moved into the footy team

Know Gil from his days doing Ground announcing at Melb Aces games. Top bloke

Think he is wrong on this one but top bloke none the less  :thumbsup
