We played well Dooks, usual brain farts but with some good footy mixed in. Back to being a 7-10 side
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

My thoughts as to the game today.
I only saw the last quarter so that's the caveat on these remarks.
Cotch got a lot of the ball, their tag was ineffective. This may be the biggest factor in our good performance.
Bounces and stoppages are still woeful.
Mackintosh hacks the ball forward too much
Our game seems fragile because we have to get it into the right peoples hands in the forward 50. Jack, lids today.
Vickery did the right thing taking the kick from 30 m out to put us in front.
We still do silly hand passes to people because they are name players, not because it's sensible.
At 16  goals 9 we kicked very straight. I think it was the lack of pressure. At 15 goals 10 collingwood kicked very well too. I think it was the lack of pressure.

Some obscure conclusions but you get that from watching 1/4 of the game  ::)

Few things to add:

Wonder what was wrong with Pendlebury, we didn't tag him and he got 18 possessions? Was he injured? Got lucky there, probably his worst game for 5 years.
Toovey going down early helped.
Chaplin is a cheat. Plays loose man and so many times Elton had to cover for him. More interested in being the 'switcher' of the ball than defending. We have lost out massively with this idiot.
Too many times Pies had a lose man in their forward line, generally from having 1 behind the ball who drifted forward into midfield which allowed someone in the midfield to sneak forward. Chaplin being 'loose man' never switched on. Only till Rance went back there to call him out on it on numerous occasions. Watch the replay I could name at least 4 goals from having someone drift down into forward line without a man. = Port will do this and destroy us if we let them.
Go Tigers!

Cotchin played his best game for the season. He stood up when it counted. Thought Grimes played well. Prepared to give credit where credit is due Houli and Grigg played good games. Corey Ellis and McBean showed they are not out of place playing AFL football. The decision not to play Rance on Cloke immediately was stupidity. B Ellis needs to work on his efforts off the ball. Was not at all impressed by his game nor that of Hunt's.
