According to Dimma it was cramp and there were no injuries. Whether that turns out to be the full extent of it we will see.

Outs- Hampson

If there's one match Hampson definitely should play in, it's this one. Sandilands will smash Maric.

Sandi will smash whoever we put against him. May as well have an extra runner and try and read his ruck work. Just like Hawthorn did.

^ just like we did when we played Freo over there.

However at this stage I don't see Maric as a better player than Hampson. And at his age he has very little scope for improvement.

Hampson needs to take the main role from here on out and we need to get a new ruckman at the end of the year.

The Barometer - Round 17
Herald-Sun

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK:
Tough game to assess — most of the Tigers were pretty good until nearly all of them disappeared in the final quarter. Matt McDonough and Nathan Gordon are the two most vulnerable — McDonough was subbed off with eight disposals at three-quarter time and Gordon touched it only four times after coming on. Damien Hardwick was cagey when asked why Dustin Martin spent time in the rooms in the third quarter.

ON THE CUSP: Another win to the VFL side with some big numbers from players hoping for a shot at senior level. Matt Dea has been in good form for weeks and had 35 disposals and 12 marks, Chris Knights cranked up his return from injury with 28 touches and Liam McBean kicked five goals. Reece Conca played a half in his return from a long-term hamstring injury and collected 15 disposals.

AL PATON’S FORECAST: The Tigers had three weeks of winnable games to cement a position in the top eight and they came through with three wins — although none were entirely convincing. The second and third quarters against St Kilda were as good as Richmond has played all year, then they totally stopped. But the positive is they set up a 52-point three-quarter time lead with a team featuring Matt McDonough, Ben Lennon (three goals), Kane Lambert and Shaun Hampson. The tests get tougher now, starting with Fremantle at the MCG. The Tigers started Freo’s mid-year slump with a stunning win in Perth five weeks ago. Repeat that and they can start seriously thinking about top four.

Unless Lennon is dropped he will be playing against Freo. Nothing in media reports about him being injured.

Newman, McDonough and Gordon out.

Dea, Knights and McBean in.

But he will probably play Conca, Lloyd and Newman.

Like it or not (and most don't like it) Newman isn't going to get dropped so why bother even discussing it

And yes I know I said on the weekend he had to go but reality is they won't do it unless he is injured
