your going on about the way in which he said it. and it was pretty tame really.

what about what he said?

can you see through to that?

and although none of us may have played the game at the highest level, we have seen enough to compare what those who win premierships do and what those that dont.

Attitude and desire to succeed has nothing to do with ability.
leaders need to stand up when it counts, regardless of what level they play at, that is why they are leaders.

you dont need to be blessed with elite sporting ability to see and understand that.
everyone can have an opinion, it's the personal recriminations that I struggle with, I just don't get that.
Seriously? personal recriminations? in that?

For one as much as we might think that our players are going to war ,they are not ,it is a game ,suggesting that the players put their life on the line for a game is stupidity. And before you say he/she didn't say this, what does attack each contest like it is your last mean? All AFL footballers are some of the bravest sportsman in the world and all are trying their very best, again I say if you have played much football you would understand that sometimes things just don't go your way. To many people buy into the media groupthink about a loss in a final, or even three finals. If you listen to the commentators you would think that they never ever played a poor game.
Getting back to tigeritis, I have every right to question what knowledge/experience he/she has to personally denigrate our players. If you have never played the game at afl level it is very hard to understand how hard it is. You can have an opinion but I don't think abusing players is fair to them.

Have you played at the elite level?
It doesn't matter whether I have or not ,I,m not the one attacking the players and insulting them.

But as a matter of fact I have played at the elite level.

If that's true (no point believing you tbh) no wonder you are overly sensitive about comments about players that are truly not that bad. As others said, his comments were rather tame.

We were good enough to win the flag,  it's as simple as that. Sitting here flossing my teeth as I watch the gAme  , I'm thinking we beat these sides, e a s I l y . It should be us out there,  :shh
Easily.....Pffft Rubbish!
I watched the prelim tonight and there's is no way our bunch of pansy leaders would've helped beat any of them.
Finals is completely different beast to home & away matches, you've got to be tough and ruthless. There's no room for substandard efforts or going missing for large chunks of the match. You've got to be on and alert ready to attack every contest like it's your last ever contest. You've got to be aggressively competative as if your life depends on it, and you don't ever, ever, let a little spit beat you.  Rance, Miles, Jack aren't in the leadership group but played this way.
Cotchin, Chaplin, Lids & Maric played like they had their rags and they will NOT live this down until they can repay this club in finals.
You must have won every norm smith medal everytime you played in AFL grand finals. Please tell us about how you were so good in so many finals , with your do or die attitude and aggressiveness. Did you even play AFL ? Did you or do you even play footy? The way you talk it seems to me ,that you are one of those blokes you find in the pub who tells anyone who'll listen , "I coulda made AFL". Or worse still lies about having played AFL , there's plenty of those duds around. If you had played footy to any level at all you wouldn't post like you do and you would certainly understand how things don't always go according to plan in finals, even with the greatest effort.  :wallywink

Sorry if this offends you but this is a bloody forum and I can give my opinion when I like and I can express those opinions how I think appropriate

If it's true that you did play at the highest level suggesting you've played AFL, congratulations, I can only guess your reply may suggests it wasn't a success.
Footy isn't everything not even to me but if your playing a final, every contest means everything and how you attack that contest separates the winners from the losers.

Our 4 leaders were pathetic and should be ashamed of themselves. They will never have success unless they can perform in finals, that I think is fact. Cotchin and Deledio especially must stand up in finals or their careers will more than likely end up like yours sticking up for substandard performances and attacking passionate supporters that want nothing less than another premiership.
It's my opinion and I'm sticking with it.  :cheers

There you go you can justify anything. I just laughed at you telling me my career was a failure. You are not a true supporter you are a punce. Interesting to know that lids actually averages 24 possies per final and a goal, I'd imagine you could only dream of ever doing that.

Ummmm....FYI, I don't want to boast but when I was 9 years old I used to able to thread the beanie thru the door goals from any angle playing bedroom footy and I never ever shirked a contest.  And to be honest I've been dreaming about kicking the winning goal for Richmond in a GF every night since.  :shh

BTW, your names not Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls is it?

boo stuffing hoo.

take your "I was born with more natural ability than you so im better than you" attitude and shove it where the sun dont shine, but dont forget to get your head out of the way first.

ha ha good for you, You asked me if I played footy at the elite level , I answered truthfully .I didn't make out I was superior to anybody, what I did was question your knowledge of football in making such sweeping conclusions about our players. Some of you "Keyboard headkickers" just don't like being called out . And please don't try and use the argument that what was said wasn't so bad , I read the other threads. if I was Jarrod Oakley -Nicholls I would be proud to be so ,because at least he had a go , no shame in that, although some you and your mates make fun of it. Punces

Pretty sobering sometimes when you take a step back and think about how good you actually have to be to make it at the top level. Best footballer I ever played with was one of Wayne Johnstones boys. He could do everything and anything, kicked perfectly with both feet, could run all day and the way he found space in amongst packs was just unbelievable. Hands down the most gifted sportsman I've ever played with (also played with T. Cloke). He was just a a bit smaller than the ideal size for a midfielder. The bloke played 1 intra club practice match for Carlton and that's it.

And while we sit on this forum and pot blokes for this that and the other (and I'm as much a perpetrator as anyone else), sometimes it pays to reflect on how good these guys actually are. Troy Chaplin, the biggest whipping boy known to OER, was a Vic state footballer, golfer, basketballer (and a few other sports as well).

Anyway, my point is, sometimes it pays to remember that, whilst its all part of the game to call someone a hack and someone else a dud, just remember that even the worst bloke on our list is 10x the sportsman you are!

Go Tiges!

i dont think you know what you are on about. this part is just all over the shop like a mad woman's crap
the common theme here is that we were not blessed to born with natural ability therefore we have no right to question others effort,

yet effort, or competing to your best is the one thing we actually can control.

My suspicion here is we are starting to see the results of the everyone gets a prize for just turning up attitude being propagated

Dogged, seriously well done on your stellar career in the AFL. :clapping :clapping :clapping and thank you for calling us all names we are so pleased to had the privilege to be acknowledged by you  :bow :bow :bow
But I think Google may have made a mistake and led you to the wrong forum.
This is OER and we like to say it how it is when it comes to our beloved Tigers. If you don't like it I suggest a forum that likes to praise the Jarred Oakley Nichols & the Robbie Nahas types and lauds their mediocrity. A forum that creams at the likes of Justin Plapp as the next Michael Roach or Silvester as our next premiership defender.

Do yourself a favour because if you think what I wrote earlier was unacceptable than you'll be in for a lot of frustration next year if it doesn't work out for atleast a finals win.

Good day Sir.  :cheers :gotigers
