In further coaching news from Tigerland, former Melbourne player Ryan Ferguson will be stepping up to a full-time role as a development coach with the Club, having been involved in a part-time capacity over the past year.

Ferguson, also a qualified teacher, will continue to work alongside Richmond’s backline coach Ben Rutten in developing the Tigers’ defenders.

He replaces Max Bailey, who spent two years as a development coach with Richmond, after playing in Hawthorn’s 2013 premiership side.

isnt that what a coach (particularly a development coach) actually is?
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

His choice

they said at the B&F he is heading off to trabel overseas for at least 12 months but more likely 2 years

WP you are pretty up to date with the clubs finances.. How much less do we spend on the footy department compared to the rest of the competition? Seems like a shoestring budget to be honest.

Or is just good management? i think we are a powerhouse club, all the money in the world but perhaps that is the wrong perception. We are coming from a long way back i guess.

The Club increased footy dept spent in 2014 by $1.9 mil. Not sure what they've done this year

I believe we are middle of the table compared to the Pies, Hawks and Bombers but at the high end of that mid table. We certainly aren't the lowest or inthe bottoms quarter

However, now that there is supposed to be some sort of cap on Footy dept spend  that results in some sort of "tax" if you go over then I think  things will even up more.

Certainly clubs can spend what they like but if they go over the cap then they have to pay a tax that is supposed to get distributed to the lesser spending clubs.

who exactly are we spending money on WP, im curious.

we arent even in the top echelon of clubs on spend yet you have to ask where is this money going to? These assistant coaches cant demand much (choco aside) so im just interested how they actually spend it because IMo its not invested in quality off field personnel.

dimwit it seems is afraid of competition in the coaches box.

Bailey and McQualter had been playing football for Rosedale down this way, not sure of the connection, must be something to do with McQualter/Traralgon.

Footy Department spend isn't just about what coaches get paid covers alot more than that Angus. I have no idea who gets what. The Club's financial don't go into that detail. And before you start potting them for that, they disclose exactly what they are required to under the Corps law so they aren't hiding anything.

But it emcompasses all things within the Footy Dept like Coaches, support staff (eg Doctors, physio), recruiting, list managment, developments, forward scouting, Footy Dept IT, the VFL program, fitness staff etc

Good riddance Bailey. Not sure how closely anyone has been watching but have our rucks improved at all since he was here. Pretty cruisy job. Development coach for 1 guy (Maric who is 30) whilst the other is injured.

Absolute cruizy cruizy job
Go Tigers!

Whack him for the job he was employed to do not what you think he did

He was not the club ruck coach.

His role was development, you know the kids, the VFL not Maric
