Our Depth
« on: November 19, 2015, 01:19:46 PM »
Im looking at our list and after the trade period I can see depth. Im not going to debate each player, god knows there is enough bagging of nearly everybody on the team. You cant read a thread without it. The point of this thread is to show we have many players fighting for spots

Here is the Elimination Final team

B:  Newman, Batchelor, Rance
HB:  Houli, Vlastuin, Chaplin
C:  B. Ellis, Cotchin, McIntosh
HF:  Martin, Griffiths, Edwards
F:  Riewoldt, Deledio, Vickery
R:  Maric, Grigg, Hunt
IC:  Grimes, Miles, Conca, Lambert

As I said Im not going to debate who should and should not be there.

We have lost a total of 1 player (Newman) off that team

Now we have

Players Added to list:  Yarran, Moore, Townsend
Players stiff to miss last game:  Lennon
Injured players that could of been in team:  C.Ellis
Players been on list for while without much of a go. McBean, Elton
Young Players in and out of Side: Menadue
Development players that MIGHT push for selection: Butler, McKenzie,  Drummond
Backup players that on "best form" could force way in: Astbury,  Morris, Hampson, Lloyd

Now thats 15 players and 1 spot. That means competition for spots in my view.

I havent included any of our rookies or this years draft picks of which there may be one or two that will push for selection.

I will not debate the merrits of any of these players, I am just pointing out the numbers. Not many clubs would have 36 playerss that COULD be be pushing for selection.

That's the problem with not thinking about who deserves to be there or not. Don't consider who does and doesn't deserve a game and every team in the comp has 44 players fighting for 22 spots

15 players are fighting to replace Newman on the half back flank?

15 blokes that wont get a game due to favoritism towards Grigg, Chaplin, Houli, hunt ...

might still rookie draft newman  :shh

one less spot in reality, given everyone will likely play two ruckman, now

How you can have McIntosh and Edwards in over Houli I'll never know. McIntosh maybe some benefit because he's young

Yes you have a good point so I should of said "realistically have a chance" of being selected. Ok McKenzie  and Bulter might be a stretch but all of the other's  would be going into the season with a chance a being selected for R1. That makes for good competition for spots.

Ok we will shove Conca from the bench onto the field now we have a bench spot to fill. Make it easier for you?  It's ok I didn't expect many positive comments from this forum.

Yeah, some people here choose when to take things literally or when to twist them. Whatever suits their negativity :thumbsup

Titch is a pop gun.

I like McIntosh...BUT....he needs to start to at least put some thought into his kicking more often, especially if he's going to remain on the wing....and it's not much use being a hard nut all the way through during the home and away season only to turn into a squib come the finals...

Funny because I thought he is one of the few that tried to provide some run in the EF. A couple of beautiful passes to Jack which he then kicked truly....

And that was just his first senior season! You really are a hard task master.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Also flinched a few times in vital contests...was like he'd been suddenly possessed by the spirit of  Elllis....which would also explain why Ellis played like a stuffin' zombie....
