I thought he was very ordinary again and that clutch goal he kicked was off the back of a ridiculously lucky bounce as he was going to be second to the ball as usual.

Reminds me of that ridiculously lucky bounce that landed with Riewoldt in that Sydney game a few years back.

Under difficult circumstances he was solid and deserved the late goal. Well done Dan :clapping

Agree.

If he was more one touch he'd be close to our most dangerous player...that's pretty much the main reason he's a notch below the Rioli standard.....  :shh

First three quarters were pathetic. His last quarter efforts must be a minimum standard output but one quarter isn’t enough for this level and for this reason must be dropped.

He is also one player I have much higher expectations (unlike Aarts and Castagna) and for this reason he frustrates the life out of me, has all the necessary attributes but consistently fails to produce a consistent level or a solid four quarter game. I’m not expecting Cyril Rioli like game but I do expect a much more consistent level of effort than what he is currently producing.

The club that keeps giving.

Should he go back to VFL and play in the guts for a couple weeks ? He needs to get some confidence in the contest. He’s literally useless atm.

Time for Stack to get a chance, Rioli offers nothing at all. Not a midfield option, no tackles, no goals or goal assists. Keen to know what his KPIs are to keep getting a game.

When he first came into the side all he would do is chase and tackle and effect so many contests with his pressure. Barely ever see that anymore

TRIPLE PREMIERSHIP TIGER STARTS TALKS TO EXTEND

Callum Twomey
afl.com.au
27 May 2021

Richmond has opened talks on a new deal for triple premiership Tiger Daniel Rioli, with a two-year extension expected.

The new deal would tie Rioli to Punt Road through to the end of 2023, when he will reach free agency after eight seasons with the club since being a first-round draft pick in 2015.

Rioli was dropped earlier this season but returned to Richmond's senior side after one game out, with coach Damien Hardwick saying the small forward brought more to the side than purely possessions.

His manager Ralph Carr said he had started discussions on a new deal for the 2017, 2019-20 premiership player.

"Daniel's will be done pretty soon I'm hoping," Carr told AFL.com.au.

"I think that one will be done in the next couple of months."

Omitted, so perhaps not playing the 'invisible' role as well as the coaches would like...
