Francis Jackson's rookie draft review ....

* Callum is a 19-year-old who's 193cm, he's generally played forward but we think he has an opportunity to play as a key defender.

* Mabior is a fantastic story, he played for Queensland in the carnival and had a few break-out games … I think his best game was on Grand Final day against the AFL Academy. He brings fabulous athleticism.

* Once again, it's a win for perseverance [with Adam], we thought he'd done everything to justify a position on an AFL list. He played 19 VFL games this year and averaged 23 touches and eight tackles a game.

* We're very happy, it was exactly the way we wanted it to pan out in terms of order of priority of players."

I find that hard to believe seeing as you can't even click on a link to find out prices for Richmond merchandise...

Great. In his highlights reel he is kicking goals from everywhere outside 50 so let's turn him into a defender and when it doesn't work over two years and we have all bagged the pee out of him, change him back to a utility forward and it's too late....why do they do that :banghead

Then why target them? If we wanted a defender why not get one? They were there.

The need for more KPD's is far greater than the need for more KPF's WAT....who knows, he might even become a genuine swingman....even better...

why is you believe that a junior player should be pigeon holed into one position?

and are you suggesting that if you are drafting a kid to play backline you should overlook the player you rate higher based on which position he has played predominately out of what is only a small number of games?

one thing i have gleaned from WATs posting over the years is he is dead set against players being versatile
