What would you have done ?

Burnt all your Richmond memorabilia in a massive Bon fire ?

Could you forgive a favourite son like Richo if he was to blame ?

Jump ship and follow the NRL or A League ?

Follow another AFL team ?

Or just sulk for 12 months .

It's a hypothetical that won't be happening again anytime soon
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

if it ever did happen with us, i would hope we'd give some kids a go or take a chance on some freakish state league (heck even local league) players rather than recruit blokes who are pushing 40

Honestly I would be absolutely furious that the club could be so unprofessional.
Reckon I'd want everyone cleaned out (Richo included) from the top down and rebuild our club.

Richmond fans don't have god delusion.

Cult like attachment to players, as much as Richo was loved.

I would have gone down very different, less kool aid
Then he grabbed two chopsticks and stuck them in his mouth , pretending to be a walrus

Every last one of the cheating scum idiots.
As it is, I'm hardly a fan of AFL anymore.

I would have some sympathy for the younger players but none for the leadership group.

I would also expect everyone who failed in their duty of care to resign , from the President down.

I would always follow the Tigers but if heads didn't roll , the club would never see another cent of mine.

Indeed....would be just another crap season.....

If Stephen Dank had come to Richmond and we were in the same predicament and we handled it the same belligerent, denialist, lets go to court way Essendrug did, I'd go barrack for some other team or watch NFL or something.  The players still think they are innocent by crikey.

It's like they are saying I didn't know the speed limit was 40 gov, I'm innocent.  Utter rubbish, ignorance has never been an excuse under the law.  My neighbors an ex victorian state league hockey player, he points out at under 21 hockey they are getting tested all the time at state league and they need to know all the rules at that level.  AFL players have no real excuse not to know, though I do admit its very easy to take something illegal bought from your local Coles.

Back to Richmond though, If on the other hand they had admitted guilt straight away, taken the suspension (which at the time 6 months was on the table)  and Cotchin had handed his Brownlow back as I imagine Cotch would because he is such an honest man.  I would totally support those players to return to the club and play out their careers.

I wouldn't support Dank, Gale or Hardwick to return and I would expect a lot, maybe the entire, board to turn over in 2 or 3 seasons to minimize disruption at that level but provide some continuity.

I notice that essendrugs membership has gone up during the saga

2012    47,708 = pre saga
2013    56,172 = saga start
2014    60,714
2015^    61,266
2016         The denouement. Only 46K so far this year.
