Stoked we got this kid late in the draft given his upside. Was always a lot termer. Good to hear his heart is in it.

A young man who is coming to grips with a terrible disease, which is very hard to control. Medications which most of you would be on  :snidegrin have such powerful side affects.
l wish this lad all the very best in his struggle & hope that he can get back playing football at any level. Some of the best footballers have suffered this disease in-fact many sports people suffer anxiety / depression after their career.  It seems to strike down people who have had a very busy lifestyle & when they start to ease off that is the time that most notice something is not right. It seems to strike down professionals of many sports. l believe it is a Adrenalin Hyperactive sort of problem & not mental as they class it.  l just hope one day they find a cure for most of you  ;D If Reece McKenzie can post on a forum to the Richmond supporters & football fans in general. It's a mighty step forward in recovery. Best Wishes Reece if your floating around the forums.

RICHMOND youngster Reece McKenzie has retired from the AFL after battling mental health issues.

The 20-year-old key forward was placed on the Tigers' long-term injury list in May and spent extended time away from the club to deal with the condition.

Richmond issued a statement on Thursday saying McKenzie has applied to play with Marcellin Old Collegians in the VAFA.

"The club understands Reece's decision and wishes both him and his family all the best in his football career and future endeavours."

McKenzie, the son of Carlton premiership player Warren McKenzie, was taken by the Tigers with pick No.77 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.

The Northern Knights product didn't play a senior game for Richmond.
