I love retro music but this is actually a lame song, it would be more stirring stuff to have an elvis or beatles tribute band and im serious :o. my worry is this will go down like a lead balloon :pray

It is without doubt an incredibly stupid decision.

If I may.

The poster of the players on horseback indicates that there is no class whatsoever amongst those who both made the decision to implement the advertising and those who agreed to it.

Bingle should shoot their marketing director.
RIchmond should get some pride.

It's a football club.

Who proposes a team base their pre match build up on such gay abandon ?

It defames the players and the clubs culture. (Lol)

I'm not surprised, however, that the club has just bent over and said yes to such an insipid campaign.

Both parties are to blame.

It's just another example of Richmond happily conducting corporate deals and mouthing propositions of 40,000 seat arenas.

Such a shame they can't suceed on the field or between their ears.

If we were going to be riding white horses we should've recruited Crowley.....

That poster really does look like it has more to with the Gay Mardi Gras than Australian Rules Football
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Lol at refusing to bag the club being the new catch-all cry of the masses.

Please.... I whack the club but not for the sake of it. If they deserve a whack I give them out

Quote
Consensus on the thread is this whole sponsor stunt is embarrassingly bad.

Don't confuse the percieved view on negativity with the facts.

Take it you missed the bit where I clearly said "never said it was a good idea" and that "not the slightest bit interested in the entertainment" so please don't get to selective in the "facts" you choose to attribute to me

I think the whole thing is stupid but the counter argument is as a major sponsors who pour millions into the club, millions that are incredibly important want to promote their brand. And like it or not part of the Club's job in accepting those millions is to assist in promoting said brand.

Really who cares, no one will paying attention, so who really cares. Unless of course you intend to be watching an paying attention just so you can go whackety, whack whack  ;D

Quote
Btw check out the astbury and new stadium threads before cherry picking arguments about negativity. Plenty of so called downers saying positive things

Noticed that and it's great to see, 2 threads a great cross section out of what 15 odd current threads  ;D :rollin

And BTW thanks for not actually directly answering the question I asked you

I'll answer your direct question - what was it amongst the noise?   ;D I'll delve back in a second.

In the meantime your comment re 2/15 positive threads, I'm not sure where the 2 or the 15 comes from. I gave 2 as an example. I believe there are other positive threads. For example, my thread on Chol, the thread on Rioli. And many more.

How many people on this site start positive threads? I'd be up there.

Maybe it's 4/15. Maybe it's 7/10. Irrespective that's free speech -debate the merits of the argument rather 'whacking for the sake of it' which cheapens the integrity of the debate.

Ok I think the question  was 'how does having a different opinion insult the integrity of the debate'. Please correct me if I'm wrong

a different opinion in principle is good because it fosters consideration of opinions. Diversity of argument is a good thing. More importantly, the merits of an argument are imperative.

In this instance the consensus is this is an embarrassing idea. Imho the merits are clear. The premise of your argument is your not a massive fan but do it for the sponsors, which is, in my opinion, an embarrassing cheapening of our club brand and others would obviously agree.

But obviously we all have a different perspective and for the record that is not unhealthy.

No that wasn't the question

On your point about cheapening the clubs brand. How can it when  on the night no one is going to be interested in it?

What about the other cringe worthy sponsor driven promos that go on at games eg the Decor one where they want to see couples kissing on the big screen?

Haven't heard any carry on about those cheapening the clubs brand

Bollocks, pouring heaps of money in doesnt give the sponsor the ability to force the club to do things they dont agree to.

It doesnt give them control over the club and it's decision making

"Forced"? Never said they were forced. As part of any sponsorship deal clubs help promote the sponsors brand. This isnt anything new

So I Don't think they have forced anything I think it is fair to say the club has actually agreed to assist their sponsor on this promotion

Whether it's a smart decision is a separate discussion

And just on the ghastly promo pic pf the players on the white horses.

This isn't the first time our players have been used in a bingle promo pic. Didnt anyone see the pic with the chimpanzee? That was up on the big screen last night year at all home games, on a billboard at Punt Road Oval and appeared every week in the footy record. Didn't hear or read anyones angst about that.

WP the whole game is being promoted within the context of this promo. The decor promo is a side issue.

And the integrity of the club matters to us members and supporters no matter who is exposed to it.

I'm not sure how you see otherwise.

Dooks, i think this so called entertainment they are going to be putting on is likely to be shocking to be honest. And the only people who will suffer any brand cheapening will be Bingle. That's their problem and frankly i don't care. I doubt very much any Tiger member or supoorter worth their salt will give a rats about the "show" prematch

I care about this club.

Not disputing for a second that some of the angst has been bought on by people's passion for the club.

but is it the aboslute worst thing that may happen on Thursday night, answer is no. But hopefully it will be  ;D

Hopefully the lesson will be even the most perceived negative supporters care about this club.

So here's hoping for a 10+goal win  :gotigers
