Review into Richmond footy department [merged]
« on: April 28, 2016, 10:06:43 PM »
Barrett was just on the Footy Show:

* Richmond to launch into another review of their Football Department.

* Focus will be on the development side of things, assistant coaches, and, of course, recruiting.

This will require some form of committee

Followed by a think tank With some key buzzwords

Of which I hope stability is included numerous times

Do the Hawks just keep fluking all these great assistant coaches, or does Clarko develop them a fair bit?

Surely our assistants being rubbish is partly Hardwicks fault too.

Well it's a start but will it be external or internal? Because if it's the latter, it'll most likely just be another pointless sham. The fact that Head Coach Half-Step is not being reviewed already strongly suggests to me that it will be.....covering the arses of those who re-signed him..... :whistle

It smells of they have signed a failing coach for two years and now they need to covers there arse. They are now trying to blame everybody else! Its now a culture where no home truths or real accountablity exists. It's like the labor party  trying to review the unions. Laughable.

The answer is simple Brendan and Peggy. Your coach is no good and he has surrounded himself with mates that dont question his ability.

Can we please have a review into why we openly state that we are a tight arsed club when it comes to payments of players.
Into why we have publicly long and embarrassing drawn out negotiations with players that actually want to play at Richmond, yet we seem to make it difficult for them to sign (Dusty, Lennon) but then wonder why we cannot land a big fish.
Simultaneously, we should also review why the same people in charge of this policy have no trouble getting contract extensions themselves.

Problem is, these same people are probably the ones who will be doing the 'review'

Agree has to be an external review to achieve anything meaningful. Concerned it is a limited review. Should be reviewing Hardwick's performance as well. Strongly suspect review to deflect criticism of the club and to give the false impression the club is doing something.

Don't have to do a review
Why ?
Club already has addressed issues with the footy department
Bit of a PR exercise this

Every club has roughly the same salary cap and so holeistically we can't be tight arsed.
The structures within the salary cap must be contentious - someone, somewhere is getting more than they deserve which squeezes out free agency at the high end which needs a review
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
