Cotchin conceded key forward Tyrone Vickery should have returned to the field more quickly after spending 11 minutes stranded on the bench against Hawthorn.
He had just kicked two goals in as many minutes, with Cotchin saying his aerobic makeup had counted against him.
“I would love to see him staying out there and hopefully nabbing another one or two goals but part of the rotation policy means sometimes you need a rest,’’ he told Channel 7’s Game Day.
“I think the (coaches box would overrule rotations) in most cases but he might have been on the field for 15 minutes and knowing Ty he’s more of a power athlete than an endurance athlete.”
