depends on if you have the heart of a turkey or the heart of an eagle to start with

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Or you had an eagle heart to start with that shrunk as a result of lack of feeding and shrivelled up into a turkey heart.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

something like that
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Could you possibly take a little from both arguments but differentiate based on a players make up? Rioli is one example of a first year player who didn't show much at all in the pre season gsmes apart from promise but plays all 7 games.
There might be a few more of that ilk wallowing in the 2's.
Conversely misery loves company and perhaps Chaplin, Morris & Hampson could join Townsend, Hunt & Moore in the never to wear a Richmond senior jumper club,
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Of coarse, rarely does one size fit all.. The problem is that besides the tried and proven spuds, there is not much being being shown at VFL level at all.

Lennon at least shows something at both levels, but hardwick clearly doesnt like him,
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

they are already ruined. do we want those replacing them to have the same attitude?

Depends how you look at it.....why persist with blokes who we know are already ruined because there's a chance some kid who isn't yet,  might be?  How long do you wait for the kids to start tearing it up in the VFL while the seniors continue to spud it up? Both sides are currently propping up their respective comps. It's not like we have 42 blokes that are all demanding selection. Of course I'm also working on the rather hopeful premise that a lot of the old list cloggers will be moved on come the end of this year , so therefore the we'll have to play more of the kids next year regardless and with that in mind I'd rather they went into next year with at least a dozen more AFL matches under their belts and with the club having a better idea of where they're at.

If we clear out the football department then we can always reset in the off season by hopefully bringing in new people who'll bring higher standards to impose on the group.....because the current lot aren't and haven't and after seven years are unlikely to, whichever way you look at it....

The season is shot, if your a smart team you play the duds in the hope they have currency at seasons end to use as trade bait ( it works on us ) for some genuinely good footballers ( you know the ones that can actually play football properly)
At the same time, making it difficult on the youngsters getting a senior birth, this hopefully raises the standards of the next crop of recruits in the reserves, giving them a high level of acheivement to attain before getting senior selection.

.......unfortunately Richmond isn't smart, aren't good at development & don't have a competitive reserves team that can develop the youngsters effectively and every other team in the competition already know how bad our duds really are.   :rollin
The club that keeps giving.

Smart teams in our situation nearly always start blooding the kids and put the cue in the rack....dumb teams do what you're suggesting....and we're a dumb team, so therefore we'll more likely keep playing the same old hacks until the bitter end as we desperately try to get another best ninth ever............and if we come good -but still miss finals- we'll again delude ourselves that the list is actually pretty good and all those duds have turned the corner or have a few more years left yet and fall over ourselves in the rush to re-sign them all and be locked and loaded for a finals assualt next year....then we'll have a nice little nap during trade week again before Hackson wakes up just in time to bungle another draft armed with middling picks.....

They are independent of effort as that may be affected by loss of motivation that may have arise from never getting picked. Some of our players display those traits while others don't.

So you accept players who don't put the effort in just because they are having a sulk? They should be delisted not rewarded

So if the forwards in the Vfl side had bigger hearts

The  would go to that part of the ground  more often?

So who plays on Tippett? Batchelor or Chaplin?
Another master stroke by Dimma.
I'm not much of a fan of Astbury but the one roll I think he can play is that on the resting ruckman in the forwardline.
The other 2 cannot.

On a serious note:
Reading all this and the team selections is really depressing me.

Does anyone else feel that way?

I know the answer is switch off and don't follow it or read it but I am inextricably tied to the RFC, in a non transferable supporters bond.

I seriously wonder if some on here have ever played aussie rules or have just read a book on it
