Frawley inherited the best list by a country mile .

Richo
Knights
Campbell
Gasper
Broderick
Gale
The Kellaways
Ottens
Cameron
Bowden

All in their prime.
Agreed, Frawley last by a long way. They had no resources but weren't that far behind the comp with regards to this.

Dimma took us from a genuine basket case to a team that deserves respect. That gets my vote.

Nope & nope.

Comparing club resources from 20 years ago to today's figures involves some serious misunderstanding of practically everything ...
For example, take the broadcasting rights deal from 20 years ago & compare that figure to the current deal ...  :o
See what I mean?
Our raw numbers might look bigger than 20 years ago, or ever, but that's economics for you!  Plus, bigger numbers in our own figures doesn't mean we are keeping pace with the other 17 teams in the competition!  Hardwick might be doing better than you even realize ...

Yeah....nah....

I know you hate the current regime.....but baffled you could could disagree with this

one thing that sticks in my mind was a training report from one of hardwicks first sessions that mentioned how often they had to stop because they didnt know the little things, probably that he took for granted at hawthorn.

Wallace was trying to get his players to implement numerous very different game plans, while hawks and cats were perfecting one and its varients.

Wallace left us in the dark ages of football, riding horses and goats while they were developing the sports car.

Must be at the bottom of the list.

They all faced different problems and failed accordingly.

I think the key to hardwicks success, if you can call it that, has been the stability of the administration, they have done a pretty good job off field but then at the same time allowed a football dept to utterly sabotage them at every turn.

The key weakness of the administration and will bring about their eventual demise has been the inability to confront or even more correctly RECOGNIZE the incompetence's of the football dept.

The problems were recognizable 2 years ago.

One of the first things i would do is get Wayne Campbell back.

I'd argue that things football have taken a back seat to establishing a politically correct brand, in the belief that such perceived stability would ultimately lead to longevity and success on field.

Basically they fail on all levels.

It's a football club.

Wallace
Frawley
Dimwit. Last

I challenge anyone to find a game they were more embarrassed to follow this club, than the GC loss after the siren and blues loss in the final.

Hafey tribute game is worse than the GC loss.
The EF loss against the scum was the worse loss in the clubs history.

But there is a common denominator in all of them.
The club that keeps giving.

The 103 point loss v Carlton in the FTF match was pretty woeful.

The 157 point loss to Geelong 2007.

Geelong was a gun side that we caught at the precise moment the juggernaut clicked into top gear.

GC was Ablett with a bunch of teenagers and cokehead from the NRL.

Carlton was 9th.

They have all been ordinary but Hardwick is the worst. And the other 2 were terrible. Hardwick has had better resources but has misjudged his players, elevating a series of losers and not giving other's a fair go, and he has lacked any creativity with his game plans - he seems always to be a few years behind other coaches despite having numerous excellent players and far more than the other 2 had.

Correct. Dimwit and his little fairies find new ways to embarrass the club and its fans

Hardwick's obsession with contested ball is way over the top too. Yes, it is great to win the contested ball, but not at the cost of many other facets of the game - pressuring, tackling, shepherding, blocking, tapping the ball on to advantage and kicking to the fat side going forward (hi big tone!) to name a few.
Just look at the hawks. They lost the contested ball to Sydney by 30+ and still won the match!!!!!

Just another way that he is lagging behind trendsetters like Clarkson. :whistle

C'mon Dio, that is seriously appologist excuse making.

That highlighted just how far behind the best clubs, and i say club rather than team, we had slipped behind in how we went about football.

That was the ferrari racing the horse and buggy.

that wasnt a group of kids getting beat up on by team of match hardened footballers, that was a club leading the way on how to manage and play the modern game, against club still in the 80s

That was a club perfecting one basic game plan and its variants, against a club winging it week to week.

what was it Jack said when hardwick took over? something a long the lines of it was like going from primary school to high school?

Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,

Not apologizing for anything....as one of the few who stayed until the bitter end, the Docklands massacre was still a disgrace, any time you concede over 200 and/or lose by 157 points is, unless you're a new club or in the first year of a full rebuild.....just think losing to kids who hadn't won a match all year and blowing a 6 goal lead in a final to a team only there by default were worse.....anyway, you'll notice I said all three coaches were/are shyte....
