RFC has just announced that they will not be participating in the 2016 draft. All picks traded for star players unbelievably undervalued by their respective sides who the Tigers believe will thrive under their elite development regime.

Callum Twomey has Callum Brown (Collingwood F/S) at Pick 27 in his latest Phantom Draft. So ignoring him, those that may still be available at pick 27 for us are:

POS: Key forward, Ht 194cm, Wt 93kg, DOB 31/7/98
From Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro

Kerr led the under-18 championships for marks on the lead, which indicates how he plays. The Oakleigh Chargers goalkicker is a traditional key forward who enjoys to lead out of the goalsquare, take his marks and go back and slot goals. He's reasonably aggressive, and has a solid body on him that isn't afraid to crash into packs and bring the ball to ground. There is maybe a slight query on his pace but he posted a time of 3.03 seconds for the 20-metre sprint at the combine but his agility was among the lowest.

POS: Tall defender, Ht 194cm, Wt 90kg, DOB 13/8/98
From Woodville-West Torrens/South Australia

Cox won All Australian honours for his performances in the under-18 carnival, where he gave good rebound and run from defence. The 18-year-old from Woodville-West Torrens is good overhead and moves well at ground level and shows plenty of promise. Cox goes well in one-on-one contests and you can see some clubs looking at him in the second round as a developing tall back.

POS: Defender, Ht 192cm, Wt 79kg, DOB 25/2/98
From West Perth/Western Australia

There was no surprises in Rotham's 20-metre sprint result at the combine, which saw him place in the top-three overall (2.92 seconds). The West Australian defender's speed off the mark is his point of difference: it gives him great separation and also allows him to close space on an opponent in quick time. Rotham is a good overhead mark and strong athletically, but needs to build up his body to be able to take on some key forwards he'll come up against.

Plays like Dusty but could slide because he kicks like Dunkley....will still be lucky if he's still there...then of course we have to get over the hurdle of our eagle-eyed recruiters... him or Poholke I'd be most happy with at 27, probably followed by Hayward....

Pepper-Powell is no chance of being there at 27. He is also a very good kick and regularly kicks goals on the run from 50m. Will go between 12 and 20

His field kicking was atrocious this year.......depending on academy & f/s bidding there's an outside chance he could still be there....(and if he is and our recruiters still overlook him then they should be sacked on the spot.)

I reckon I might have seen a little more of him this year than your goodself and trust me his kicking is fine.

Sam Powell-Pepper kicking efficiency:

U18 champs: 45.2% (comp average 60.6%)
WAFL: 44.1% (comp average 61.5%)

For comparison - Josh Dunkley's KE in the TAC Cup last year was around 50%.

Quote

Pick 27: It has been a swift rise up the draft board for Cedric Cox this year, having moved from Western Australia to Camperdown last year before playing for the North Ballarat Rebels in 2016. Cox played his best footy as a rebounding half-back, where his pace and skill impressed. He also moved up the ground and onto the wing, and occasionally across half-forward, where he was able to highlight his versatility. He seems likely to be a second-round selection.

Around the mark: Pat Kerr, Sam Powell-Pepper, Jordan Ridley

Poholke's field kicking isn't that crash hot either, pretty sure it was under 50% for the championships.

Hayward for me. Need another goal kicker. Impressed in the Judd vs O'Loughlin game. Cooly slotted a few through from a distance.

The best mids that'll likely be available at 27 are fairly similar.......good contested players with questionable kicking....Powell-Pepper, Poholke, Atley.......Dunkley -types...Scharenberg probably the exception - has good disposal amd makes good decisions but is slow as treacle ....kind of like a tall Sam Mitchell....

Reckon at the worst we should end up with another Shane Tuck type out of that lot.......

My third choice behind Powell-Pepper & Poholke....but next year's crop of KPP's will be better and we'll have at least two higher picks (for now anyway)...Richards as a DFA should tie us over until then - gives us coverage at both ends, GF experience and is ready to go.... :shh
