Well we are gonna get challenged big time. Excited to see how we structure up now. Gives Miller a real chance here to show what he’s got

You know it's bad when you're not even concerned about the loss of your captain and #1 ruckman..

I guess it explains some of him form. I hope he hasn't been battling this issue for weeks?

Nank hasn't been training fully but it wasn't said why. Dimma said before the Dogs game that we only needed Nank right for gameday.

I think this is a serendipitous sort of thing.

Will force us to look to other players.

Ryan first ruck, Miller ruck/forward.

Season looks stuffed anyway with Lynch out so we may as well experiment.

Here's the vision of when Nank did the injury.

WATCH: https://twitter.com/FOXFOOTY/status/1645364620864147459

English stepped on Nank's foot at a throw-in in our F50 at the city end with 12.25 mins to go in the third quarter. You can see Nank grimace and then struggle to jog away from the area.

So, Nank played the last 1.5 quarters with it.

We needed two subs. With Graham subbed off already, Nank had to play on despite clearly struggling.

Tigers take another hit as Nank goes down

Richmond has suffered another massive injury setback with co-captain and inspirational ruckman Toby Nankervis requiring surgery on a high-ankle sprain.

Nankervis will need syndesmosis surgery that will put him out for a minimum of six weeks, and potentially longer, after suffering the injury in the loss to the Western Bulldogs.

On a horror day for the club, Tom Lynch required surgery that will put him out for at least two months on a broken foot, and hard-running midfielder Jack Graham strained his hamstring.

Veteran defender Robbie Tarrant lasted only minutes in the VFL as he continues to battle with a recurring hip injury and bush recruit Kaelen Bradtke broke his hand.

Richmond’s back up ruckman Ivan Soldo is working back from plantar fasciitis and, while he is improving, the Tigers listed him as unavailable on their injury list last week.

Project ruckman Mate Colina is out long-term with a back injury, with Samson Ryan an impressive prospect but needed up forward given Lynch’s absence.

Ben Miller will be handed the task of leading the ruck department after 33 hitouts, 16 disposals and a goal in the VFL loss to the Bulldogs.

The injury-hit Tigers face a critical fortnight taking on Sydney and Melbourne in coming weeks as they attempt to turn around a win-loss record with one victory, one draw and two losses.

I hope they're not suggesting Miller play 1st ruck. At least tag team it close to 50-50 with Ryan ffs.

Ryan is the one who looks solid in the ruck so far.

Toby Nankervis triggers a one-year contract extension (Age)

TIGER NOT UP FOR GRABS

The Age

Richmond co-captain Toby Nankervis is no longer on the market.

Nankervis quietly reached a contract trigger in the opening rounds that automatically locks him in for next season, at a time he is preparing to be out for an extended period recovering from syndesmosis surgery.

The former Swan, who has played 113 of his 125 games for the Tigers, has become a key on and off-field piece of Richmond’s success, including playing in their 2017, 2019 and 2020 flags.

This year promises to be a transitional one for the Tigers, with champion veterans Trent Cotchin and Jack Riewoldt, and ex-Roos star Robbie Tarrant likely playing their last seasons.

Noah Balta is nearing a contract extension and Jack Graham triggered another year with his appearance in Saturday’s loss to Western Bulldogs, but Dylan Grimes, Nathan Broad, Hugo Ralphsmith, Marlion Pickett and Kamdyn McIntosh are among those out of contract.

Co-captain Toby Nankervis will make his return to the line-up following ankle surgery on a syndesmosis injury after Round 4.

The three-time premiership ruckman said he was ready to go.

"I (wouldn't) play unless I'm absolutely right and in a position where I can play my best footy," Nankervis said when speaking to the media on Thursday afternoon at the MCG.

Nankervis said he was pleased to see the team play consistent footy over four quarters in recent weeks and was excited to get back out there himself.

"I think over the course of the year, we've seen patches of our best footy that we know stacks up against anyone," he said.

"But over the past fortnight, it's just about being able to play four quarters of footy and it's exciting to watch.

"Friday night (Round 8 v Geelong) was an unbelievable night of footy for both sides, and it's great seeing the ledger start to go our way a bit."

He is a disgrace to be called a captain IMV. The dropped marks and lack
of leadership is what cost us tonight

If anyone think that’s harsh well FO
