Can’t believe we got this guy for pick 50 or whatever it was.

Solo ruck Nank is the best Nank. Just needs someone to give him a chop out for 10-20% of game time.

What a season this guy is having. I know Martin is getting on but bloody hell Nank ran circles around him haha.

Still wouldn't say no to Soldo back in the side when we have guys like Gawn to beat.

“I think Toby Nankervis for us is really, really important,” Hardwick said.

“He’s had a great year. He’s probably a little bit under-rated outside our four walls, but within he’s very, very important to the way we play.

“He’s hard, he’s tough . . . He’s undersized, but he competes really well.”

After seven rounds of the season, Nankervis has a compelling case to be rated the second best ruckman in the competition behind Melbourne captain Max Gawn.

He is averaging 17.9 disposals, 4.6 clearances and 22.1 hit-outs per game.

Dont think this season is greatly different to 2017 2018 and yep he is having a very good season.

He only played a dozen games in 2019 2020 and obviously had his issues with injuries.
Would still like to see us play another ruckman or more to the point a fwd/ruck to ease the load on this bloke and in the process get games into a promising tall like ccj.

KEY TIGER “ONE OF THE GREAT RECRUITS OF THE LAST DECADE”

By Alex Zaia
SEN
6 May 2021

Richmond ruckman Toby Nankervis is one of the best recruits of the last decade, according to Matthew Lloyd.

Sydney traded Nankervis to the Tigers in exchange for a third-round draft pick at the end of 2016 after the ex-Swan played just 12 games in three seasons.

The 26-year-old achieved the ultimate success in his first year at Punt Road before adding a second and third premiership in 2019 and 2020.

Nankervis hasn’t missed a game this season and remains a key figure in Damien Hardwick’s all-conquering side.

“I think he’s been one of the great recruits of the last decade with what he’s done for Richmond,” Essendon great Lloyd told Channel Nine’s Footy Classified.

“Since he’s come to the club, they’ve won three premierships.

“If he wasn’t there, I don’t think they’d win premierships without Toby Nankervis.

“That’s how important he’s been for Richmond.”

Contracted until the end of 2023, Nankervis will be crucial to Richmond’s hopes of achieving a premiership three-peat in 2021.

77 of his 89 AFL games have come in yellow and black.

There were some comments floating here which said post 2018 the game has gone past him and that Nank’s days were numbered since Soldo rucks better or something to that effect

Just go back and look. His 2018-19 were OK but not great. He was consistently beaten by bigger rucks, which I think is happening less and less these days. Recently I thought it was a liability against guys like NicNat, Gawn etc but not so much this year.

Nank was never a liability always gave 120%.Last 2 seasons his matured more as a ruckman and got his best footy ahead.
