Get a grip of it guys Himmelberg only 18 already people righting him off, some people having a meltdown we all know what happen when we picked Jack back in the day.

I don't think people are writing an 18 year old off.

We have written the club off as far as having any success, sustained or fleeting.

What child deserves to brought into an environment of corporate abuse, I ask.

its nothing to do with the kid. It has all to do with the club. Looking at the form guide he is destined to be a dud, who plays 200 games in the VFL and then gets delisted

He could well surprise us all but without the benefit of hindsight, do you think that in a draft that's widely considered one of the deepest and most even for mids in years but weak for talls, it's a sound idea to take a tall with our first pick at 27...especially given our record of drafting & developing talls beyond pick 18?

Bottom line - The club, through its deplorable management, has made it hard for any intelligent. Supporter to "get excited" about anything.

At the start in the background I saw Balme picking his teeth and fine eyes Francis looking at something really closely. It was only missing Ralph with a finger up his nose.

Himmelberg will be an astute selection.

no matter what end of the ground they play him, people will be able to sook about him being played out of position.

good times ahead.

Get a grip of it guys Himmelberg only 18 already people righting him off, some people having a meltdown we all know what happen when we picked Jack back in the day.

He could well surprise us all but without the benefit of hindsight, do you think that in a draft that's widely considered one of the deepest and most even for mids in years but weak for talls, it's a sound idea to take a tall with our first pick at 27...especially given our record of drafting & developing talls beyond pick 18?
What would have been sound idea was having enough nd and rookie picks to start with. Say three more nd picks and two more rookie picks. As you say very deep draft  for mids  and they were there late  yet we took just one in both the nd and rookie drafts.
Another lost opportunity in the name of stability and by stability i mean keeping players on the list who are never going to take us anywhere.
By the way this draft was not a poor draft for talls. It was very light on for tall fwds but there was nothing wrong with the crop of tall defenders and rucks  that were available in both.

Finally as far as taking a ruckman goes cameron would have been a good fit but the one i really liked was Lachlan Filipovic  who went to melbourne in the rookie draft.
With just a few extra picks 3 4 5 even we could have targeted more mids a few kpds even matture ones  like Richards and Schade who i like as a player or the 23 yr old Mihocek from pm and a ruckman

There would be a pool of about 20 players i would have been happy to give a game to weather they make it or not.Imo we would be better of with 4 or 5 from that pool than keeping many of the players we did.
Yep we hung onto too many spuds when we had an opportunity to cut em and because of this it restricted our opportunity to at the least try alternatives.

We continue to go about things the wrong way imo. A fully fit best 22 may make the 8 it may not. A really deep draft for mids and we take just 1.
Plenty of ruckman mature and young available and we cant rookie one and keep  maric  who is shot and still left with Hampson.
There was lots of tall defenders to be had right thru this entire off season and we take just one with a pick in the 70's How often does a pick 70 make it?  but FMD  its our answer to a very severe problem.
Ah well theres always next yrs off season.I wonder how many will drop off by then though.

We took only one mid because we traded for Prestia and Caddy. That's 3 mids. More than enough.
Pick 72 was rated much higher in many other phantom drafts. The kid is raw but can play forward and back. I think he's a really good prospect.
I actually thought we did well overall. We picked up a good young ruck, 3 mids and 2 guys with heaps of x factor and a KPP.
The problem I have is we kept quite a bit of dead wood. Hopefully that will be first to go next year.
