My simple view is that anything should be considered if the will of the overall forum requests it.

this is where we are miles apart. You seem to believe that every decision on how this site is/should be run or what it should do or not do somehow should be determined by the posters.

Not sure why that is to be honest with.

But that is not the way it is or ever has been.

As the owners of this site we have to and do make decisions, we make rules, administer them and we get that people don't like some of the things we've done.

We have had to deal with outside issues caused by the actions of people posting on this site. The people that cause the issues don't have to deal with these things. We (owners/mods) do; it is our responsibility and we take it seriously. I know people laugh and ridicule when I say it but we've had to do it.

Everything we do is with one constant in mind and that is we do what is best for the site, to protect it and keep it up and running. So we make calls independent of posters because we have to and simply we have the right too.

This is one of instances. We have made a call, we're comfortable with it and have no intention of changing it. People don't like it; I get that but it is the decision we've made. Not sure why folks won't accept it.

Resource, money etc take care of themselves if the desire is there - you should be comfortable with the way the resource is administered and the way money is collected/raised but that isn't beyond your scope of skill sets.If the will isn't there, then everyone plays on

Not sure what you mean here re the underlined bit

Can I ask why you wouldn't let the name OER go next to the player, whether you had any sort of contribution or not? I can understand protecting your image and your property but I don't understand how it can be construed in a negative way

Think I've covered part of this above

You've also answered the question in your question when you said "protecting your image and your property".

But in blunt terms, we are the owners of this site and we are not willing to give our permission for the site's name to be used so it cannot be used. It has nothing to whether we contribute or not. We are not sanctioning it as part of this site; that's the call we've made.

Couple of things here and then I'll shut up.
I do think good forums evolve and site operators/owners evolve with it. Knowing when and why to evolve is a decision for the site owners but I think forum members can sometimes play a meaningful role here.
I don't agree with your assumption that I think every decision should be the domain of forum members. Apart from one post, over many years and thousands of posts, I'm pretty sure the evidence is there that I support almost all of your decisions. Particularly ones which have legal implications. I'd challenge you to find otherwise which is why I think you're being overly sensitive in this particular issue.
Having done this before, it is easy enough to do but time consuming to execute.
If done well, player sponsorship has no impact on the overall forum -particularly if members of the forum support it. It certainly has no legal risk.
Having said all of that, it's your choice which is fair.
It's not a matter of whether people are  accepting of that decision, it's the way you haven't even bothered to explain the background or reason for that decision.
Again, your call but your not naive enough to think members of this forum will just sit back and say "oh that's okay because big willy says so?"
Your going to get challenged (you call it demands) so all I'd say is be open to the challenge (not demands, there were never any demands but suggestions and challenges and perhaps ask that question for clarity)but if you feel strongly to say the decisions final and we aren't going to explain it because we couldn't be bothered then just bloody post that!
Don't ask questions if your not going to change your mind!!'

Spot on HRT  :clapping
The issue I feel is we as forum members are getting the RFC member treatment with WP and OE (who has been surprisingly quiet) playing the part of RFC officials. Funny WP is the most vocal about that being an issue

P.S I understand the difference between us as forum members and a RFC member

Can I ask why you wouldn't let the name OER go next to the player, whether you had any sort of contribution or not? I can understand protecting your image and your property but I don't understand how it can be construed in a negative way

Doesn't really answer the underlined
