from the Herald-Sun

Coughlan's teammates took part in a light session at Punt Rd yesterday before Saturday night's Dreamtime at the 'G clash with Essendon.

Matthew Richardson walked around in sneakers for 10 minutes before disappearing into the rooms, while ruckman Troy Simmonds performed only light duties.

Trent Cotchin, Cameron Howat and Andrew Raines trained away from the main group.

Raines, who has not played since Round 2 because of a dislocated kneecap, was restricted to stationary drills.

Just got back from a semi-packed Punt Road oval today. They had the indigenous boys who are playing in the curtainraiser tomorrow night down watching training along with another group of teenagers from some school. There were also some Dutch backpackers who had dropped by for a look before going to their first Aussie Rules tonight. Of course the media were everywhere filming and taking photos. There should be vision of it on Ch 10 news.

Anyway at training today were the squad of 25 named (Petts, Cleve and Connors emergencies) plus Rainesy. JON was also present running laps with his arm in a brown bandage/cast from his wrist along his arm to just above the elbow. Cass just did some kick to kick with Rawlings before going inside the rooms.

It was only a short 45 minute session as in the norm the day before the game so nothing special as far as the drills. Just a tune up with ballhandling in the air and along the ground, footpassing, run and carry and linking up and then finally some goalkicking on the run.

While Richmond was training, the indigenous boys had changed into Richmond jumpers and stood just inside the rooms waiting for their turn to train after Richmond did. A nice touch after training by our Richmond boys to form a guard of honour as the indigenous boys ran onto the ground. Hi 5's all round.

The only damper is a mini-concern on Richo. He wore a glove on his left hand throughout training (perhaps protecting a finger injured late in the game against Geelong?) and he had a bandage around his right knee. Immediately after training had finished he scooted into the rooms without signing any autographs or waiting to be apart of the guard of honour.

As pre usual, any questions just fire away.

Yep, didn't look good.  They said it was tendonitis in his right knee, and struggled to train.  Please be good for tomorrow Richo!

GO TIGES!!!

Late May is becoming injury time for Richo  :(.

2006 - May 27 - cracked a bone in his wrist against Geelong.
2007 -  Round 8 - cracked his cheekbone
2008 - Round 8 - knee tendonitis

Richo has worn a glove or strapping on his wrist for like, ever.

Hope he pulls up OK for tonight, it will be interesting to see who the late change is!
