Training today was as usual at Punt Rd. Fine conditions but with a strong breeze. Initially it was a closed session with gates locked but they were opened once the Melbourne spy who was peeping through the gate left lol. Doug Vickery was giving every stranger the once over lol. It makes no sense anyway as you can see everything from Punt Rd.
As mentioned in the other thread, there was a squad of roughly 30. Newy, Lids, Simmo, Polak, Browny, Jack, Cotch, Edwards, Joel, Jordie, Polo, Petts, McGuane, Rance, Morton, Tuck, Jackson, Schulz, Patto, JON, Tambo, Hyde, Tivs, Cleve, Whitey, Moore, Foley and Howat did the full training session. All were wearing different numbers to usual again.
Richo didn't train with the main group. Just did some 100m straight jogging and some kick to kick. He looked to be pulling up better today.
Thursty and Sugar ran some laps and did some kick to kick.
No sign of Kingy.
Cogs did about the first half of main training. I thought there was a problem at first when he stopped as he went over to the physio but he then went and did his own thing. A few half laps around the boundary, some kick to kick, and repetitively collecting the ball off the group with a trainer pressuring him.
In terms of training itself after the gates were opened they did nothing out of the norm apart from using a younger forward line (still with the same set-ups) - Jack vs Rance, Hughes/Patto vs McGuane/Schulz, Lids vs JON. Browny, Morton and Whitey were also used as forwards. Newy was their opponent. Simmo vs Patto were given a free license to push inside 50. The forward half of the field was left open for the forwards and the mids/half-backs (everyone else in two rotating groups) ran and linked as full pace and then spotted leads inside 50. Polly played as a rebounding defender btw. Neither Joel or Petts were used as forwards or HFFers which is meant to be their role these days.
After all the footy drills they put on their tackle tops and did some 1-on-1 tacking with one player running towards the tackler. McRae told the defender not to stay to far off the oncoming attacker. The defender to corral initially to corner the attacker and then go in to tackle.
As per usual - any question just fire away.
