Video of the first day back training. Mostly weight and upper body strength stuff.

http://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/tabid/11454/contentid/501146/damien+hardwick+on+sen+-+november+2/default.aspx

Grimesy says his hammies are better than 100% and he hasn't missed an off-season session. He'll be joining in main training when it starts.

Hard to tell on the video (re: Grimes). Becoming heavier might not be in his interests as far as managing his hammies.

Here's a pic of Helbig yesterday.

There was no easing into pre-season training for the young Richmond players, who started their 2013 campaign yesterday.

According to highly-promising defender, Dylan Grimes, it was an intense first-up session for the Club’s players with 1-3 years’ AFL experience, who were the first group to return, to start the Tigers’ pre-season.

It’s Richmond’s first pre-season under the guidance of the Club’s new Elite Performance Manager, Peter Burge, and changes are already evident . . .

I think the unknown player in the video is one of the Irish boys from the combine. It's either Bradley or Hurley if that is the case. My money is on Hurley due to his height (195cms)......a smokey could be Dylans brother Tom....... :-\

Pics from training at Moorabbin this morning:

So that's Arnot, Dea, Astbury, Elton, Griffiths, Morris, Derickx, Ellis, Martin and Verrier (I think on the end). The two hidden ones must be Grimesy and O'Hanlon. Batch also at training today.

No Helbig or Conca as far as the young blokes.

Just looking at the various pics of the boys ,it struck me how big some of them have got eg Dea and Helbig. Now I am no expert on athlete conditioning so was wondering if anyone here knows if its possible to get so big in such a short period of time.I mean they only have had 8 weeks off since they finished playing.

If your starting from a  good base (which most of thses guys are) it takes about 6 weeks working out 2-3 times a week to start showing good results.

From the Australian:

Richmond players will start serious pre-season programs this week, with only Brett Deledio (knee), recruit Troy Chaplin (knee) and Jake King missing or on restricted work due to surgery.
