Jack Riewoldt shouldn’t hide his passion, says Richmond recruit Josh Caddy

Jay Clark,
Herald Sun
February 4, 2017

RICHMOND recruit Josh Caddy has lauded Jack Riewoldt’s passion for the club as the veteran spearhead eyes a return to the Tigers’ leadership group.

Riewoldt’s body language has sometimes landed him in trouble with the goalkicker unable to explain why he had been overlooked for a position in the leadership group in recent years.

But Caddy, who arrived at the club in October’s trade period, said Riewoldt had been an energetic and positive presence at training this pre-season.

“He is an intense character and he is full of beans, no doubt — that’s the thing that has stood out for me,” Caddy said.

“Everyone looking in will have their opinion on him, but for me he is just an emotional person and he doesn’t hide those emotions.

It usually isn’t hard to guess how Jack Riewoldt is feeling.
“Sometimes he might show his cards too much in terms of those emotions, but for me that’s just because he wants to win.”

The Tigers will unveil a reshaped forward line this season led by Riewoldt and Ben Griffiths after the departure of big man Tyrone Vickery to Hawthorn.

Caddy said Riewoldt, 28, was still at the top of his game, entering his 11th season.

“He’s a gun,” Caddy said. “Remember he has won the Coleman (Medal) a couple of times (in 2010 and 2012) and hopefully he can have a massive year for us up forward.”

Jane Caddy is really in the spotlight lately. Maybe he should just shut the stuff up and let his footy do the talking.
JR has come across as a spoilt brat far too often it is not a good look and we dont need it.How does anyone follow a bloke who even if hes not, looks like he is having a dummy spit every 5 minutes.

Lead by actions and channell that passion into actions.

Name the last time he spat it, yep you can't - how ironic coming from the worlds biggest dummy spitter  :lol
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Yep unlike Richo who couldn't get it under control his whole career, JR has mastered it the last few years. To anyone who actually watches the games this should be apparent.

JR comes across as the only bloke who really seems to care if we win or lose.

He has controlled it to a point now that it is acceptable. At least he shows hurt in losing rather than big smiles at the end of lost games shown by some.

Has come across as a spoilt brat far too often as portrayed by the media. Piece of advise Claw, don't be seduced by what the media want to drive and achieve. Jack is a ripping guy who shows passion like many other AFL players however he does have a larger profile than most others thus, it gets raised by average media types to justify their existence. I am so happy a player of his quality is playing for the Tigers including his unwavering passion :clapping

The main reason the media started focusing on his body language is because he followed in the footsteps of Richo....

He had major attitude problems and it was unacceptable. He's pulled his head in now thankfully. I do admire his passion and loyalty - it's not been easy for him up forward the last few years

Acceptable? Understatement of the century  ::)

Understatement maybe and even debatable, but understatement of the century?  :gobdrop

You obviously haven't heard many understatements in your time. :lol
