Zoe Hargreaves

SNAPSHOT: “Hargreaves is a powerfully-built utility who has played across all three lines and shown her burst speed from stoppages as well as her understanding of the game.”

Zoe Hargreaves was a player who made plenty of people take note last year in her debut Coates Talent League Girls season. Having not played at the level prior to that, the bottom-ager made up for lost time, producing a super year which culminated in her representing Vic Metro – and impressing – against the Allies, before being named in the Vic Metro hub for 2024.

Alongside her younger sister Phoebe (2025 AFLW Draft class), Hargreaves has moved through the junior pathways since joining Fitzroy’s inaugural Under 10s side. The sisters took up the chance to test themselves at the level at ages eight and nine, and have remained at the club since.

Zoe made back-to-back interleague squads for the Yarra Junior Football League, but after not being noticed at first by Northern, was invited to trial after her Under 16s season. From there, Hargreaves made it into the Under 18s Knights program, and has pieced together some fantastic football over the last two years.

A “crazy Baggers fan” who looks up to the likes of Mimi Hill, Abbie McKay and Patrick Cripps, Hargreaves has built her own following as a strong inside midfielder with versatility to play off flanks as well. The Northern Knights top-ager played midfield-forward rotation last year, and has been midfielder-defender this year across both the Knights and Vic Metro, though still on occasion finds herself inside 50.

While developing areas of her game still, the explosive talent has an eye for the game and plenty of upside for the future. In a draft crop that has a number of quality midfielders, Hargreaves does add some points of difference which will impress clubs.

Tigers welcome versatile Hargreaves

Richmond has selected Northern Knights' vice captain Zoe Hargreaves with selection No. 20 at tonight's 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft.

By Richmond Media
17 Dec 2024

Richmond has used its second selection, No. 20 overall, in the 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft to recruit multi-positional Zoe Hargreaves.

Here is a summary of what Richmond fans can expect from Hargreaves at Tigerland...

Zoe Hargreaves profile

Club - Northern Knights

Junior club - Fitzroy

Date of birth - 3/6/06

Height – 172cm

Position -  Winger / Inside midfielder / rebounding defender

Richmond AFLW National Recruiting Manager Trent Mosbey's analysis on Hargreaves...

Zoe has played roles as a winger, inside midfielder and rebounding defender for the Northern Knights and Vic Metro sides this season.

Zoe averaged 16 disposals, 2.3 inside 50s, 4.7 tackles, 2.7 clearances and 2.3 marks across all three games for Vic Metro off half-back and as an inside mid, running hard both ways, using the ball efficiently and playing a team brand.

Produced a standout game under the Marvel Stadium roof as an inside mid with 25 disposals at 72% efficiency, seven clearances, seven tackles, four inside 50s and five marks up against Vic Country’s star midfielders Ash Centra, Sara Howley and Lucia Painter.

Was also vice captain of the 2024 Northern Knights side and finished second in their best and fairest, highlighting Zoe's consistency across all games.

It was also great to see Zoe play VFLW for Carlton, having 12 disposals across all three lines against Geelong, looking at home at the level against the older competition with a number of AFLW players on both teams.

Zoe is an exciting, versatile player, a competitor with an impressive kick and athletic profile, and is highly regarded for her leadership , professionalism, coachability, positive energy and strong desire to achieve.

We loved her combination of attacking and defensive game styles.

Scott gets to AFLW Tigers

Richmond has bolstered its front-end stocks with the acquisition of Paige Scott via pick 31 in tonight's 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft.

By Richmond Media
17 Dec 2024

Richmond has used its third selection, No. 31 overall, in the 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft to recruit 20-year-old former Essendon forward Paige Scott.

Here is a summary of what Richmond fans can expect from Scott at Richmond...

Paige Scott profile

Club - Essendon AFLW

Junior club - Avoca (Vic) / Carisbrook (Vic) / GWV Rebels

Date Of birth - 25/6/04

Height - 169cm

Position - General forward / Midfielder

Richmond AFLW National Recruiting Manager Trent Mosbey's analysis on Scott...

Paige is a general forward, who can play both high and deep, as well as through the midfield.

Has kicked 12 goals and averaged 9.8 disposals, 3.6 tackles and 2.3 marks per game across 28 AFLW games for Essendon since being drafted with pick 8 in 2022.

Paige was a Rising Star nominee after their first senior game with 16 disposals, four marks and one goal in front of 12,000 against Hawthorn in Round 1 of Season 7 in 2022 at Marvel Stadium.

The former GWV Rebels product strengths are their contested marking, power, speed, agility, and has a great leap capable of taking speckys. Possessing strong footy IQ, Paige is capable of kicking important goals in big moments, as was evident against Richmond in 2023 with two critical goals in the Dreamtime game at Ikon Park.

As a junior, Paige was All Australian and led the goal kicking at the Under 18 championships in 2021 as a bottom-age player. They are no stranger to Punt Road having played for the AFLW Academy at the ground and kicking two goals against an Under 23 side in May 2022. In that year, Paige also kicked five goals in a dominant performance at VFLW level for Geelong against Darebin.

We see Paige slotting into our forward line, bringing elite defensive pressure in the front half and challenging the opposition in lots of ways inside forward 50, either in the air or at ground level, offensively and defensively. They are well regarded for being highly competitive, bringing impressive urgency, intensity and aggression at the contested ball.
