RICHMOND

Bolstering its midfield was an important part of Richmond's off season, and Sierra Grieves will do just that. Super strong and reliable at the contest, Grieves will complement Monique Conti and Ellie McKenzie beautifully in the middle, while she is also adept inside 50. Grieves spent much of her junior career as a deadly small forward, before finding her feet in the middle this year, so her capacity to move across the lines will be handy for the Tigers. Zoe Hargreaves will add even more depth to the line, as a well-balanced, two-way runner, and at 172cm has a bit of size about her. Meanwhile Paige Scott has finally swapped the red sash for yellow, after the former Bomber opted to delist themselves once trade talks stalled last week. Scott will be a handy mid-sized forward option to link smalls Mackenzie Ford and Emelia Yassir with talls Katie Brennan and Caitlin Greiser.

Was just in checking up on what's going on with the club and I read we traded out Sheerin to North! :gobdrop

 :noway :pullhair :facepalm  :help

I'm flabbergasted.

What's going on? Did she ask to leave?

Surely she did but that doesn’t mean we should have let her go for only pick18.

Yes in an insta post by the rfc Sheehan did say sheerin asked for a trade.

Question should be why did she want to leave?

A week earlier she comes 2nd in the BnF and spoke glowingly of the club and love of it..

Goes to prove a week's a long time in footy

It's a crap deal

And seeing she was contracted club has chosen to trade her

What was Norf's offer to her that stitched the deal then?  A God Father offer, on or off the books?
Would anybody put it past the back to back reigning premiers to make huge offer for a player?      :-\

Lmao
A godfather offer for AFLW? $50 and a packet of skittles???

North can’t put adequate money into their AFL program, how on earth could they be paying anything off the books?

It’s staggering they’ve still got the lights turned on

They didn’t go b2b, brissy won it last year if I remember correctly.

Anyway seems to me that she wanted to leave because she’s only got a couple seasons left in her and wanted a real shot to win it all which we clearly can’t offer her.

Point still stands that we were under no obligation to trade a contracted player for the miserly pick that we got in exchange.

Ah, my bad!  Norf didn't go b2b this year.  But they did win both the AFLW & the VFLW premierships this year!  Premierships in both women's leagues in the same year, that should keep the lights on for a while ...

Yeah
That will make all the difference financially  :lol :lol :lol

You do realise we are talking about a club that sells games all over the country to keep themselves financially profitable

Selling on field viability for profitability

So yeah , I’m sure the lights will stay on .. but it ain’t due to their AFLW side raking in the dollars

"She wanted to leave"?

I have had a number of people tell me a number of versions of what supposedly happened ... rumours are amazing things  ;D

Based on everything I heard I stand by my belief that there is more to all of this than the Club has spun.

We all agree that the deal was a shocker... so why did the Club agree to it?

Said it before something just doesn't sit right with this whole fiasco and there is always one constant with anything to do with our women's program and that's the person who heads it

The highest paid AFLW players will begin to have their earnings capped from next season, as clubs start to look ahead to the change in the Additional Services Agreement (ASA) rules for next year and beyond.

All excellent points but the difference between us (a big four club) and Norf (a pack of wandering nomads with no supporters) is they clearly take the girls competition seriously.

No money but they can afford a premiership side that is able to get our second best player as well.
No money but they can afford to host a vflw program that not only won the flag also but had 5 players make the vflw team of the year.

We on the other hand are a poor excuse for the woman's game giving not enough respect or resources behind it.

Like I've said many time before why should we be enthusiastic about the women's team when the club clearly isn't.

Like I've said many time before why should we be enthusiastic about the women's team when the club clearly isn't.

As you know I've been a massive supporter of our women's program but the above is an excellent post.

The reason N0rt are able to do what they done is about how they allocate their soft cap to their program. They focus on a talent pathway (VFLW) and allocate resources there. We chose to align with another Club for reasons the Club has never fully explained but in the same breath say we are paying all of the soft cap.

So after the fiasco of trade week I have come to realise that perhaps the AFLW program doesn't get focus it should. I noticed this season hardly anyone of our AFL players went to games, Nort had plenty at theirs. They preached an ethos of "one club" and delivered on it. We preached it but didn't seem to act on it

N0rt would be laughing at us right now. Outside of getting one of our best players for basically nothing they have everything we claim we want and that's a super successful program that generates premierships. What a truly sad reflectioncof how something is valued >:(
