Norf overvalue it - we value it at what it's worth. :shh

Lmao - you just complained they don't value it as highly as Norf in your own post which was replying to & agreeing with a post which also said it .... :facepalm

A typical non answer by you

I'm very much aware what I wrote

But you said they "value it for what it's worth"

So I asked you why would they spend the full cap with that don't value it? You know asking for an opinion

As as is your way, you don't answer the question posed to you; you just give a non answer with a clip for good measure

Just a guess but I think you’re taking the word ‘value’ too literally.

We may spend more or less the same dollars wise but we certainly don’t put as much effort into building a successful program as north.

I said in my post when the sheerin trade broke that it seems like they started the program so the club could get a pat on the back for being inclusive and caring about women’s footy. The running of the program since then has been careless at best and there have been no changes to the coaches (Ferguson) or footy boss (Sheehan) to try to right the course.

It doesn't matter if it's a women's or men's team, if you have a coach who has been around for 5 years with a flawed gameplan that isn't based on a defence first mindset and doesn't stand up in finals, and you get too many recruiting decisions wrong, and you don't have your own state league side to develop your players properly, then you won't succeed.

Personally think our gameplan in both the men's and women's has been massively flawed in recent years. We don't set up defensively as a team at contests and stoppages while this overuse of handball crap completely crumbles under any pressure. Our so called efforts in last 6 weeks of the AFLW especially were just embarrassing from a tactical point of view. So many losses this season were on Ferguson being outcoached. We looked devoid of any sense of a cohesive gameplan and team structure compared to other sides.

As for Norf, they entered the AFLW comp the same year we did from memory. They got their list build, coaching and development right. We didn't.

Sadly, got a feeling we've wasted Katie Brennan's best years. It looked like age was catching up with her this season :(.

Eilish Sheerin's move from the Tigers to Kangaroos was the biggest shock of trade period.

Drafted as a defender, Sheerin shifted to the midfield in 2024 and cited North Melbourne's strong midfield group as one of the reasons she pursued a move.

"There wasn't one particular factor. North Melbourne has established itself over the years such a respected, successful and developed program. So when the opportunity to potentially move over to North presented itself, it was definitely something I was interested in exploring.

"I think North Melbourne has the premier midfield in the business. They're such hard workers and so humble the way they go about their business. Just being a part of the team, irrespective of whether that's in the midfield, is an incredible opportunity.

Brendan Fevola joins AFLW Tigers as Specialist Coach

In other AFLW coaching changes, assistant coach (backs) Nathan Chapman will step back from the line coaching position in the AFLW program, due to his increasing commitments with Prokick Australia. Chapman, who will remain at Richmond, where he has been since 2019.

‘I’m a coach!’: Brendan Fevola to lead new generation of goalkickers at Richmond

Tyler Lewis and Ben Waterworth
Newswire - Foxsports
February 13th, 2025

Goalkicking great Brendan Fevola will guide a new generation of forwards after taking on a specialist coaching role at Richmond AFLW.

Fevola was a three-time All-Australian, two-time Coleman Medallist and kicked 623 goals across his 204 AFL games at Carlton and Brisbane.

The 44-year-old has coaching experience, leading several local sides as well as assisting with Collingwood’s AFLW program last year.

Richmond head of women’s football Kate Sheahan said Fevola was “exactly the type of person” the Tigers were looking to insert into their program.

“His energy is infectious; he has coached his own team, and his on-field resume speaks for itself,” Sheahan said.

“However, what has really stood out when talking to Brendan – who is, of course, a father of four girls – is his genuine excitement for women’s football.

“Brendan will regularly be on the track at our training sessions, and our players are thrilled to have him on-board.”

Speaking on his breakfast radio show, Fevola said his coaching stint at Collingwood “really fired up the fire that had been put out in my body once I finished the AFL”.

“I am now a coach!” Fevola said on The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick.

“I went in there (on Wednesday); it was a bit weird driving into Punt Road … It was such a surreal feeling because one of my best mates, Chris Newman (former Richmond captain) … he was one of the first people I saw. We’re hugging each other and I’m like: ‘Look at us now! In our 40s and now we’re both here at Tigerland!’

“I tried to explain it to my family. It was like my first day of being drafted going into Carlton. I had this young boy feeling, meeting everyone.

“I’ll be doing a lot with the forwards … Obviously, my passion for women’s footy – and I just love footy – so they were like: ‘I think we want you to be a specialist coach so you can help the midfield out and the defenders.’

“I’m pretty excited to get down there. I want to join in the training and help, because women’s footy (has) come a long way.”

Richmond VFLW Alignment Update

By Richmond Media
21 Feb 2025

Richmond Football Club advises that its VFLW alignment with Port Melbourne Football Club will not continue for the 2025 season.

Richmond Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan thanked the entire Port Melbourne Football Club for the past four years.

“Our partnership with Port Melbourne has been successful across the past four years and mutually beneficial for both Club’s up to this point,” she said.

“Because of the start date of the 2025 AFLW season being brought forward and the increasing demands of pre-season and the AFLW competition, we will not be having an alignment with Port Melbourne this year.

“On behalf of the Club we thank everyone from Port Melbourne for their contributions across the past four years and we wish them all the best for the upcoming season.”

Sheahan said the Club was working through its future second tier options.
