Class by Conti. Gathers 70 out and runs inside 50 and nails the goal.

25 - 41

Half-time

Richmond    1.0     4.1-25
Hawthorn    4.5     6.6-42

Goals: Scott, Brennan, McKenzie, Conti.

Intensity better that quarter. We also just kept it simple going long and direct as we have no real system. We are so reliant on our top few individually carrying the team. No surprise our 3 goals that quarter came from Brennan (assist Conti), McKenzie (assist Seymour) and Conti. The gap between them and most of the rest of the team in terms of footy IQ and skills is immense. Our backline especially is vulnerable.

3/4 time

Richmond    1.0     4.1     5.1-31
Hawthorn    4.5     6.6     7.9-51

Goals: Scott, Brennan, McKenzie, Conti, Dempsey.

Geez we have some dumb players :facepalm. And we can't play both Greiser and Knoll up forward. Both too similar and both have done nothing today. One at least has to be replaced by a more mobile lead up forward in the season proper.

Same same every year. Most of our players are fat, slow or useless and in some cases all 3.

Final Score

Richmond    1.0     4.1     5.1      6.2-38
Hawthorn    4.5     6.6     7.9    10.15-75

Goals: Scott, Brennan, McKenzie, Conti, Dempsey. Shevlin.

First of all, the Hawks looked really good. A clear system of play and dominated the centre clearances.

As for us, we'll just be making up the numbers this upcoming season. Too dependent on our top few and no system. Brennan played only the first half. Didn't notice McKenzie out there in the second half either.

It's a cheap lazy cop out response.

The Club is seeing what little it has invested into our women's team.

* Keeping on a dud coach after 5 years in the job with still no discernable gameplan that stacks up.

* Recruiting that is no different to the bad old days of the men's team where first round picks fail and we see one of our better players walk to the top side for virtually nothing in return.

* No standalone ressies team in the VFLW when the Club itself preached 15 years ago how important a standalone ressies team is for developing younger players. When you ask why at the AGM, the Club fobs you off with a nothing answer. The Club then ended its affiliation with Port Melbourne and replaced it with nothing.

It was also mentioned in the commentary today that the Hawks went out and brought in one of the best S&C people. The special commentator gave us a nice backhander saying that it shows how professional Hawthorn is towards its women's team.

If you don't like AFLW that's fine. But, if you are going to comment, then at least point the finger at the powers that be at the Club who through their own indifference and inactions have deliberately caused our AFLW team to end up in the poor state it is.

The club don’t take the women’s program seriously so why should we.

Every year it seems more and more like the club put their hand up to have a women’s side just so they could pay themselves on the back about being inclusive.

Footy department has been an absolute joke with the moves it has made (hello sheerin trade).

Exactly like the WNBA .. some hilarious comments after the players protest at the “all-star event” asking to be paid their fair share .. the WNBA, like the AFLW is an absolute money pit and always will be .. one bloke calculated exactly what the losses were and what players should be made to pay back .. that went down well

Tigers downed by Hawks in practice match

Richmond has suffered a 37-point loss to Hawthorn in a practice match at IKON Park.

It was a hot football early at Ikon Park, with Hawthorn controlling the play out of the centre of the ground.

Katelyn Cox quickly weathered the storm with her defensive pressure on the football, along with impressive intercept marking.

Gabby Seymour turned the tide win a fantastic run through half-forward, lacing out Paige Scott, who took a leaping contested mark 30 meters out. Scott went back and kicked the first major of the day, giving Richmond an early lead.

Elizabeth Graham led the way for the back line, taking a crucial goal-saving tackle late in the quarter.

However, the Hawks' forward pressure was too strong, as they booted the next four goals to take the lead heading into the first break.

Monique Conti sparked energy back into the group with a penetrating kick from the centre square to inside the attacking 50 at the start of the second.

With the ball locked inside Richmond’s forward 50, Skipper Katie Brennan marked a high-flying ball on the goal-square line to kick the side's second major of the game.

In a back-and-forth contest, Ellie McKenzie took charge, plucking a contested mark 40 meters out and slotted it home with a strong kick off her left boot.

Momentum swung in Richmond’s favour after a run from Conti at half forward, where she broke through stoppage and kicked a goal from 50 meters out, cutting the lead back to 17 points at the main break.

It was an arm wrestle, coming out of the half-time, with Kate Dempsey finding space and dribblie kicked one through for a goal to bring the margin back to 12 points. However, Hawks quickly responded with one of their own.

Both sides finished with one major heading in the third term, with the Tigers down and in need of a 20-point turnaround.

Hawks proved too strong out of the middle once again, piling on the first three goals of the last quarter and extending their lead.

Ally Dallaway tried to will on her side, working hard to win the ball around stoppage, earning much-needed ground for her team.

Tigers' relentless pressure never wavered, with Cox competing hard to win the ball at ground level whilst Caitlin Greiser stood tall in the last, clearing the ball outside of the defensive fifty.

The Tigers worked their way up the ground, where Scott found Conti with a thumping kick, resulting in a shot on goal.

In the dying moments of the match, Madelaine Shevlin took a mark inside Richmond’s attacking 50 around 40 meters out, where she lined up and slotted a nice goal after the siren.

Shevlin’s goal made it a 37-point defeat, with the final score reading 38 - 75 in favour of the Hawks.

The side finished with six individual goal scores in Brennan, Scott, Conti, McKenzie, Dempsey and Shevlin, all kicking majors.

The Tigers will now turn their focus to Round 1, where they travel to Sydney to take on the Swans, scheduled for Friday 15 August from 6:15pm at North Sydney Oval.

Yeah I think they said it was $40m USD to prop up the WNBA?

Can't stand that Angel Reece or whatever her name is.

The Caitlin girl is a dead set gun though.

Anyone associated with the team performance or recruitment needs to go.

You would think since the tiger girls have started playing we would at least see some glimpse of a structure taking place. However what we see is under 8s footy with the only goal of kicking the ball  forward. The number of times I seen players calling for the hands and being burnt only to have the ball kicked to an opposition player done my head in.
