Frees 6-19 :banghead
How is that not a stat worth mentioning during the commentary?

When it was 14-4 Eddie mcGuire said

"And the umpires are umpiring bee-utifully here today"

Just watched the replay

Eddie actually said "the crowd is umpiring beautifually today"
"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

from the song "Don't Walk Away" by Pat Benatar 1988 (Wide Awake In Dreamland)

Team selection was wrong. Miles should have been retained. We were comprehensively beaten in contested possession. I believe we went in too tall. Hardwick was outcoached. Unlike Hardwick I believe the dimensions of the ground did not suit our game style.

Too tall? We were tiny out there. If soldo had an impact around the ground we would have loooed a lot better.

Yep.

With one big lumbering tall forward, Astbury should have gone to Harry Taylor. Rance should have zoned off Stanley. Astbury matches up much better on Taylor. No shame in that. Also the ball was entering their forward line without pressure as they had more run through the midfield. Winning the contested ball allowed them to spread and we couldn't keep up. Having Miles would not have allowed the ball to come out was easily and as often.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

I watched it too, the commentators, including Eddy brought up how we were getting stiffed a few times, no point worrying about it, the AFL won't give a steamy loaf and wave everyone on, nothing to see here.

Agree with the dimensions comment. Not enough room for the smalls to run into open space like the G. Cats defend that ground so good so a taller forward set up was my thoughts as we needed to go with them in the air.

Richmond didn’t handle the pressure: Robbo (SEN)

Richmond didn’t handle the pressure

By SEN
14 August 2017

Chief Football Writer of the Herald Sun, Mark Robinson, believes Richmond didn’t handle the pressure in their loss to Geelong on the weekend.

The Tigers lost by 14-points to the Cats, in a game where Geelong was missing linchpins Joel Selwood, Tom Hawkins and Mitch Duncan. Richmond used the footy at just 66 percent efficiency; something Robinson thinks is becoming a constant theme.

“What we saw on Saturday was sloppy ball use,” he said on SEN Afternoons.

“Richmond didn’t handle the pressure. Their ball use in the fourth quarter, and in the last month, has been really sloppy. Most scores come from turnover. On the weekend, Richmond’s turnovers just gifted the Cats so many scores.

“They couldn’t move the ball.”

However, Robinson did acknowledge Damien Hardwick’s men showed good hunger at the coalface, as the Tigers recorded 84 tackles, well above their season average of 68.5.

“Richmond’s pressure was really good, very high,” he said.

“The will was there, but the skill wasn’t. If you bring that skill again, you wont go deep in September.

“Their pressure was really good; they weren’t scared of Geelong or the venue. That was really strong, but the next element is, when we have the ball, what are we going to do with it? It didn’t happen.”

Wont be getting that space at subi either. the dimensions are almost the same as simonds.

Yet our recent record at Subi is quite good . Won past 2 against Freo at that venue .

Got nothing to do with dimensions,  Geelong own us at the moment.  Psychological.

I thought most people thought Cotchin had a great game
I recall being criticised for emphasising how poor our three leaders were and that the general consensus was that he'd had a good game.

I'm glad both coaches agreed more with me than the majority on OER.  :clapping
