AFLX - Tigers in Sydney [updated - includes squad]
« on: June 21, 2017, 11:09:54 PM »
According to Barrett tonight, the AFL will reveal a footy version of T20 Big Bash after the H/A season with the best clubs that miss the finals playing.

It's a slimmed down version footy:
* Played on soccer-size pitches.
* 7 players-a-side with 3 interchange.
* Four 10 min quarters.
* No centre bounces. Kick-ins after each goal.
* Competition to go for a week after H/A season.

AFLX, the League's high-octane version of the sport, will debut on February 15 next year with the AFL including traditional soccer and rugby venues among the venues for three separate round-robin tournaments.

The modified game will be played in three cities across three nights, with six AFL clubs represented in each competition.

... The action then heads north to Allianz Stadium in Sydney on Saturday, February 17 when the Swans, Greater Western Sydney, the Brisbane Lions, Western Bulldogs, Richmond and Gold Coast will face off.

AFLX pre-season fixture

Pool A, Hindmarsh Stadium, Thursday February 15
Adelaide, Collingwood, Fremantle, Geelong, Port Adelaide, West Coast

Pool B, Etihad Stadium, Friday February 16
Carlton, Essendon, Hawthorn, Melbourne, North Melbourne, St Kilda

Pool C, Allianz Stadium, Saturday February 17

Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast, Greater Western Sydney, Richmond, Sydney, Western Bulldogs

Two 10 minute halves.

With our late start to preseason, I can't see us playing/risking any of our stars. Only our quick agile cubs like Bolton, Stengle and co.

FANS will be encouraged to sit in segregated team zones for the upcoming AFLX tournaments.

The League plans to unveil a number of new fan experiences at the three tournaments in February, with venues set to be divided up into club-specific areas.
