Conca should only be considered as back up for our back ups.

There's no way Conca will be considered.

He was holding his spot early in the year without dominating but the bloke has missed too much footy .

Hope he has a good pre season and can get a decent crack at it .

I agree with the Conca sentiment - unlucky for him but there is no way he should even be in consideration for finals(way underdone), so too Hammer and Griff for that matter, but I have this sick feeling that Hammer at the very least will be played maybe even this week.

In the Mix - Round 23

Nathan Schmook
afl.com.au

RICHMOND

Forward Sam Lloyd, who has played eight games this season, racked up a massive 50 possessions and booted four goals in the VFL, but there are no obvious candidates to make way after a 104-point thumping of Fremantle on Sunday.

Midfielder Anthony Miles also racked up 45 possessions in the VFL win over Sandringham to push his case.

The other conundrum at selection will be with ruckman Shaun Hampson, who had 21 hit-outs to go with his two goals in his second game back from a long-term back injury, opening the possibility of a two-ruck structure at AFL level.

Tall forward Ben Griffiths and defender Reece Conca will likely require more time at VFL level after returning from injury in the state league.

Josh Caddy will need one more week on the sidelines to recover from a hamstring injury.

Selection dilemmas for Tigers

richmondfc.com.au
22 August 2017

The Richmond selectors will be burning the midnight oil this week, as they try to figure out the Tigers’ best line-up to tackle the business end of season 2017.

There are several players in Richmond’s VFL team knocking strongly on the door for senior selection – led by Sam Lloyd and Anthony Miles.

Lloyd had nearly 50 disposals and kicked four goals in the 70-point win by the Tiger ‘twos’ against Sandringham last Sunday, while Miles had a ‘lazy’ 45.

Experienced trio Ben Griffiths, Reece Conca and Steven Morris all returned to the playing field with the VFL side, following their respective stints on the sidelines through injury, while ruckman Shaun Hampson had his second game back after recovering from a severe back complaint.

Throw in talented young players such as Jayden Short, Corey Ellis, Connor Menadue, Shai Bolton, Tyson Stengle and Ivan Soldo, plus the imminent return from a minor hamstring injury of key mature-age midfielder Josh Caddy and you can understand why the Richmond selection meetings are likely to drag on for quite some time in the foreseeable future.

“Our VFL boys are playing some great footy, so we’ve got some selection decisions to make going forward,” said Tigers coach Damien Hardwick.

“Shaun (Hampson) was very good at VFL level, (Ivan) Soldo’s a young, learning type of ruckman, Ben Griffiths got through another game.

“Do we go with the one ruck? Do we need two?

“It might be dependent on the opposition.

“But they’re good problems to have at the moment.”

I'd take miles ahead of Lloyd no problems
The non selection of miles and caddy going down were costly against geelong.
Lloyd has had some good games but im not convinced we need him in this forward line

Selfless which is what landed him OER player of the year...
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
