Cats team boo'ed upon entry to ground
« on: September 11, 2017, 10:00:46 AM »
This was among my many favourite moments of Friday night.

I had a heated discussion today with a very floggy Cats fan about it. I'm all up for jeering and booing within the spirit of the game. I'm not someone that will yell abuse at an opponent or anything, (generally they'll always make you eat your words anyway) but I was making as much jeers and boos when the Cats came out.

Any Tiger fans think that this was unsportsmanlike behaviour by ourselves? I absolutely loved it and would have upset at least 1 Cats player, especially since the fact that it was their 'home' final.

I hope that any of the little media and society sook up over this doesn't detract our fans getting stuck into which ever mob rocks up next Saturday.

Biggest lot of whining entitled supporters that I know.

It's football FFS. You go there to boo the opponent.

Down at the Cattery they spit and swear at you.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

I was abused by a cats fan for being too vocal maybe so, but i think 19 losses at the G should give us some rights to celebrate and barrack.

After reading their overconfidence all week on BF it will be very satisfying to see them exit in straight sets .

Chris Scotts finals record is now in tatters after he inherited a premiership team .

They now have a very ordinary bottom 6 players imo .

They would be very foolish to chase Gazza .

You could almost put them in the same category as WCE and Port - flat track bullies.

I thought it was hilarious. Just a part of footy.

Also one of the funniest things I ever heard was when they kicked a goal. Over the load speaker they played the Geelong chant.

My Geelong mate was embarrassed by it but I found it hilarious.

Yep, bunch of entitled sooks!  They hand it out at their ground, so we give it back at ours!  What goes around comes around.
I draw the line at crowd violence & abuse, but booing the opposition is nothing more than hot air ...
Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!  Loud, proud & dangerous!

after the cat litter park debacle I knew they were gonna cop it hard next time they came to the mcg, boy was I wrong, they copped it worse than I thought.  Remember though, no whinging about when it happens to us, just wear it and give it back in spades.

That was so embarrasing, SEN this morning has Cats fans complaining about their safety. Hilarious

When you start whinging about "home ground advantages" and the like, you're only going to lose. Did it to themselves IMO.

As for that Cats supporter that feared for her safety - give me a spell. Sour grapes pure and simple.

Mum felt unsafe at Richmond Geelong AFL final lodges complaint

Yahoo7 Sport
11 September 2017  1:00pm

A Geelong fan who left the game against Richmond with her daughter prematurely because she "felt unsafe," has lodged an official complaint with the AFL.

The Cats supporter spoke of her ordeal on Melbourne radio, describing the scenes she endured at the MCG on Friday night as akin to "mob atmosphere."

"I go to the football with my daughter quite a lot and we’re quite fair," the woman told 3AW.

"We go and watch the game and support good play. We arrived and the atmosphere was just terrible. As people know, there were very few Geelong supporters there, which wasn't a problem.

"But from the moment we arrived - and I'm not immune to swearing, you hear it all the time - but the language was terrible.

"The sportsmanship, the booing, just the atmosphere - the mob atmosphere - it was just terrible.

"We felt unsafe. We didn't feel like we could support our team. There was booing, there were comments being made and we felt very unsafe.

"I wouldn't have wanted to be there with a young child.”

The disgruntled fan denied that her disillusionment amounted to sour grapes, conceding that the Tigers were rightful winners.

However, she felt the situation warranted an official complaint to the AFL, as well as the Richmond Football Club, Geelong Football Club and Melbourne Cricket Club.

"The best team won on the night definitely. It wasn’t about the game, it was the supporters," she said.

"We left before halftime and we never leave games early, we stay to the end whether we're winning or losing."

"Half of the reason we left early is because we didn't want to be on the train - win or lose - with Richmond supporters."

The woman's account was backed up by another caller on the radio station who claimed he'd never heard so many expletives at a football game before - particularly from female Tigers fans.
