Great news, as Dio said, worst case it gives us leverage to ask for a big trade.

Biggest thing is ensuring he isn't an option for Tasmania who will have first dibs on FA players during their building phase. Balta has won a flag already so would be one of the profiles that would be an easier get for Tasmania compared to someone who is desperate for their first flag at their own club.

Fantastic, someone who sticks though thick and thin, I respect him more for his loyalty

We were all saying the same when Rioli and Bolton signed on

Contracts mean stuff all these days .. players do what they want

Just more leverage for when we do trade him....not that the media or other clubs will immediately understand this judging from the last few days... :shh

100%

Hopefully it’s front loaded to the max

Would have to be. I'd expect the Dusty contract money has gone straight to Balta and front ended. What is interesting tho is that it's been offered and signed before the 3 trades. I'd expect some of Baker contract and Graham's has been pushed over but they can't include any savings from Rioli or Bolton, which I expect is because we wither expect to keep them or continue to pay a fair bit of their contract.

Correct to some extent however the club is in a hell of a different situation now then when those 2 boys signed on.

Pres, CEO, coach all changed, list turnover up to wazoo and just win the spoon. Still could ask for a trade of course but the fact he’s signed on when we’re at rock bottom is different to bolts & Rioli.

My comment wasn’t about Noah .. it’s great by him to sign on

More about contracts and the fact they’re barely worth the paper they’re written on

Damo, player managers are running the game. That, the rules, the free agency compensation and basically the entire afl administration are just a few of the issues in the game
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Personally I think that's why Bolton and Rioli signed their long-term teams.

Wouldn't surprise me if they/club didn't have an inkling they'd go or at least discussed it but agreed to sign on long-term to secure wages and trade currency.

This guy is a joke, like the club care what he thinks or says , does he think they should call him up before making decisions on contracts, drinking his own bath water has given him an extreme case of self importance ,

I don't think it's a joke.

Only risk is if he gets injured badly or perpetually like Lynch.

End of '32 takes him basically to the end of his playing like at age 33 more or less. We have seen enough of his skillset to know he's a gun KPD when he's on, but can also go forward or ruck part time.

Still should be unleashed in the midfield or wing IMO.

If all of Gibcus, Young, Miller, Blight, Broad etc are fit I would consider Balta straight up playing midfield for pace and aggression.

Dear Kane,

How many years did Dusty Martin sign for in 2017?
How did those 7 years go Kane?
1 x Brownlow Medal
3 x Norm Smith Medals
3 x Premiership Medals
3 x All Australian
3 x Gary Ayers Medal
1 x Best and Fairest

Think the 7 year deal has history that it works.
