Rightly or wrongly, I’d feel very very hard done by, by bakes if he left via the preseason draft.

I just can’t see him leaving without securing a trade back for us.

I firmly believe 100% that he would not go by the PSD.

If CCJ wouldn't do it there's no way Bakes would.

Ralph has nfi and that other loser "later in the second round is about as funny as it gets.

There is no way on this planet that baker is only worth a late first, or early second. Its around the 10 mark and that is absolutely fair. I just hope he chooses freo.

If its eagles then you hope Clarke shows some loyalty and gets us a fair deal.

Dunno if he's worth pick 10 myself but definitely not as late as 20 odd.

For me he's around those mid-teens but really we should be packaging something back to target a top 8 pick.

Agree with the packaging part, but I couldn't disagree more with the rest. Mid teens will end up being pick 20.

That's crazy talk when I watch treloar, hopper and Schulz roll around.

Pick 10-14 any day of the week. Straight out 12 is fair value.

Yeah that's what I mean - pick should end up mid teens.

Not 15 sliding to 18.

If it was 10-12 sliding to 13-15 I'd say that's about right.

fair enough then. Still think its slightly unders.

Treloar was pick 14 and a future second rounder. The Bulldogs sent pick No.14 and a future second-round selection to the Magpies in exchange for Treloar, also receiving picks No.26, No.33 and No.42 in return.

Not sure what that ended up being but its close 10 isnt it?

That is one example. Many more.

Will never blame a player for wanting to go home. He’s been a great tiger and what great return we should receive on Baker

Treloar was a salary dump so no comparison. he would have been a pick around 4 or 5 otherwise.

Pick 8 to 14 anything else forget about it. Wouldn't package nothing up 2 time premiership player in his prime and one of our best. Eagles payed 2 first rounds for Kelly and Miles behind Baker.

Their 2nd rounder in 2021 ended up being pick 32.

Once you do the math Collingwood essentially paid 58 points (pick 69) for WB to take treloar off their hands.

Edit: Collingwood paid $1.5mil of Treloar's 5 year contract at WB and saved themselves $3mil over the same period, or $600k/year.

So they traded out minimal draft value for $600k/year.

I love baker as much as the next guy , but that’s a pretty one eyed take. Kelly nearly won a Brownlow, was in way better form than baker is now.
Also the fact he’s a 2 time premiership player doesn’t mean a great deal. What would we have gotten for Castagna with your logic ?

I think he’s worth a top 15 pick. Wouldn’t be surprised if we got a top 20 and a future second or something

Thank god some of you aren’t doing trade week  ;D.
Seriously, we have 2-3 clubs who want him, all have top 10 picks in this years draft.
Admittedly, Freo really need to finish in that 7-12 zone to encourage them to do something stupid but they have West who HAVE to be seen as doing something.
He is a huge pick up as an on field leader - both WA clubs and Crows screaming out for this quality.

These factors lift his currency beyond just what he offers as a player. If we can’t get something inside top 10 as a minimum and probably more then we just aren’t doing our job.

Trades are rarely just about the players playing worth.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
