Liam Baker took a significant step in his transition from small forward to small defender with a productive performance back at AFL level for Richmond against Port Adelaide at the MCG yesterday.

The 21-year-old, making his first senior appearance with the Tigers since Round 13, after showing good recent form across the backline in the VFL, had 20 disposals and an equal game-high nine intercepts.

Am I the only one who would prefer stack down back with baker playing mid/fwd?

I'm OK with this but it's time we start getting value for these players leaving via draft picks.  Not just giving them away like we did with A Miles.

Miles was unofficially part of the Lynch deal.

He's still only rookie listed so I'm not sure we have that much bargaining power if any..... :shh

His position could also come under pressure this week, with Josh Caddy and Kamdyn McIntosh among the potential inclusions for Friday night's blockbuster clash with Collingwood at the MCG.
Well, Bakes has kept his spot in the team.

And you’ll play in a team that’s contending for a flag
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

If they let this kid go I’ll spew.
He is a very exciting kid that has come from a long way back.
He is a natural footballer that knows how to find the footy.
His upside is huge IMO.
