A high profile first round kid will get it instead this week but DES deserves a rising star nomination after his BOG effort.

Can’t wait for Houli to come back and play the Eggy role.

Of course - Kevin Sheehan and Brad Johnson don't watch our games or nominate our kids - particularly indigenous ones.  It took Shai and Syd about 10 weeks longer than it should have last year o get their nominations.

Taking nothing away fro the Egg, it’s the easiest position on the ground to play, especially in our side.  Imagine playing as a backman at AFL Level and basically not having to pick up a man- and then get the ball fed to you so you can rack up easy touches.
Then also having Grimes and Vlaustin next to you to cover any mistake you might make.

A slightly overweight 3 gamers played the roll as good as Houli can.
I think that speaks for itself.

I think we have half a dozen players on our list who could play this roll with their eyes closed.

Doubt that - Egg was classy in the VFL all last year and looked ready for seniors.  Not the only one to look ready at VFL level but definitely the only HBF among them

Knighter, I think you missed my point... it was more about Houli’s roll over the past 3 years than The Egg himself.

And for the record I think the following could play that loose, rebounding defender
-Egg obviously
-Stack
-Baker
-Short
-Naish
-Edwards
-Markov
-Pickett
-hell even Rioli could do it

And that’s without even considering the new boys.

One of the worst defenders I've ever seen and yes I know that he is a rebounder but playing in defense there is times when you have to go and he just doesnt, at least Bach and Short have a crack even if it leaves a fair bit to be desired.

He is incredibly soft boiled is the egg man.

I like his attacking game though.

Can’t you guys just show a bit of love?

DES is going ok IMVHO.

Do you want him to win the Brownlow in his first 3 games?

Dance was a superstar from his first game?

Sheesh it took Edwards about 3 years before he started to come good,

Just saying .....

His got the skill set and kicking that's the hardest part his defence work can be worked on like most players in the game after handful of games work in progress. To many housewives here.

If you watch the highlights of the match concentrating on the Footscray ones you will see twice the non contact defensive measures undertaken by the soft boiled one
