The interesting one this year out of the mature state league players will be Mitch Grigg. Failed in his first go at AFL with the Crows (2013-16) but has won back-to-back Magarey medals playing for Norwood in the SANFL and today had 31 disposals and kicked 6 goals in a losing Grand Final team.

Liked Grigg in his draft year but didn't set the world on fire at Adelaide only playing 20 games over 3 seasons.

Actually started getting some decent numbers in the later part of 2016 but then was delisted.

Potentially worth a shot as at worse he becomes midfield depth especially if we lose Miles Lloyd C Ellis and Conca this year.

Only thing not sure how to classify him as a midfielder. Didn't seem to win a high % of contested ball.

Surely there is a few inside ball winning midfielders across the state leagues.Not sure Grigg is the answer.

The AFL has given Carlton and Gold Coast first dibs at two state league players each, so one of them will now get Mitch Grigg.

There will still be plenty to picjk from.....it's Gold Cost  & Carlton so they'll probably stuff up three of the four picks up between them anyway..... :shh

AFL Academy Coach Luke Power: (On 2018 being a "super-draft") The top end of this draft is great. If you're drafting up to about pick 25, you're going to get a great player.

Jordan Clark from Claremont firming as our likely first pick if available.

Combine results likely to see him available at our first pick. Not a super athlete but a natural footballer who just knows how to play the game. Think Graham or Higgins.

Was watching some WAFL U15 squad games this week, and Ian Hill's name came up in conversation.

A chap from East Fremantle was saying that apart from Hill's skills, he has never seen a player for his age with better body contact technique. He sticks tackles and makes them hurt, which is impressive for a lightly framed player. Good tackling technique, and a very good front on tackler which is not something you see a lot of in the AFL. How this translates to AFL is anyone's guess, but if he bulks up a bit he sounds like a ripper.

Ist pick - Collier-Dawkins or McFadyen

2nd pick - Eli Smith

3rd pick - Riley Grundy

Collier-Dawkins looks a great prospect. Not sure he lasts until our first pick.

EPSN did a phantom draft the other day and had Collier Dawson going the pick after ours at #17

No allowance for compo picks or father son/academy picks though
