The Tiger tax on show.

Didn't realise the AFL lawyers could simply know the force of a push from watching it on a TV screen  ::). The AFL didn't dispute that Lynch was pushed. The Club should appeal with a biomechanist.

AFL's twisted logic:

Player gets pushed into another player. No one gets hurt. That's a week suspension for the pushed player.

Player pushes opponent into an oncoming contest that results in that opponent ending up with a broken jaw. Nothing to see here folks!

Tribunal's Reasons:

We find that this was a bump by Lynch. He was pushed to some extent by Wetering, but this did not cause him to bump. Lynch intended to bump De Koning, and he did bump De Koning.

We reject the evidence and the argument that this was not a bump, but rather a bracing for impact.

We reject the evidence and argument that Lynch moved in an upward motion so as to avoid contact to his head.

We find that the contact to De Koning was not caused by circumstances beyond the control of Lynch.

While I don't agree with the decision, especially as Weitering's push wasn't even looked at, despite the AFL saying they were cracking down on it...

Not at all surprised he didn't get off. Was never going to get off now that the AFL have changed the way these incidents are to be judged. That is not on outcome but on the potential outcome (potential to cause injury)

It’s like someone rear ending you car, you hit the car in front, and somehow it’s your fault

Sadly, what the interpretations were in previous seasons are not the same now.

Now doubt it will change again going forward because that's what the AFL does. Makes decisions based on reaction not thorough thinking of things through

This forum needs a like button for this sort of post.

Absolute BS.

Tribunal basically arguing that he should have braked harder or found a way to avoid the fender bender.

Adem Yze won't curb returning spearhead Tom Lynch's aggression after his one-match ban for a high bump on Carlton's Tom De Koning.

"It's a brutal game, and he plays his best footy when he's in that mode. And our players play and grow around him when he does that," Yze said ahead of Saturday's clash with St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.

"There's always that fine line and we've got to protect the head, and there's a technique issue in the way – he's a big man, so most times when he goes to bump, he's probably going to hit him in the head, unless it's Aaron Sandilands.

"We're never going to temper that. We expect that our big boys play big and play combative, and that's what he brings

"We don't want to lose him too often. He's just got to pick his time and his mark. But we don't want to take that aggression away from him."

Lynch can be his own worst enemy

"We expect that our big boys play big and play combative", Adem Yze said during the week of Tom Lynch and his physicality's positive effect on teammates. However, the opposition can also turn the advantage their way, which the Saints did on Saturday. As the Tigers started charging in the second quarter Callum Wilkie took to poking the bear, and the bear responded, spoiling for a fight and losing focus on the ball, which he only touched twice through the rest of the match. Yze is right about Lynch's importance to his side, but as much as he may like the aggression, he needs to control his star goalkicker's temper because Lynch can't inspire from the grandstand.

While I get the point raised in the above

Tom was man handled, mauled all game usually with an umpire within 5-10 metres and the did nothing. In some cases just pointed at atom to get away

It doesn't matter who it is, if a bloke is being man handled off the ball or restricted to get to a contest is it not supposed to be a free?

Tom looked like he was moving freely … apart from being man handled … watched him in the last quarter off the football since we had 100 Inside 50 against us and how many times he is pulled, pushed, tugged away from the football is local level stuff …

Why can’t Richmond show the footage? I thought it’s a free kick off the football?

Start paying it to him and it will stop!
