The Hawks are going to try to beat us at our own game according to Brereton and Dunstall.

“They [Hawthorn's small forwards C.Rioli, Puopolo, Breust & Impey] were pressing up and having that intense pressure, which is how Richmond won that premiership last year.

“It’s all about winning the territory battle — you’re not going to get opened up down back if the ball doesn’t get there that much.”

From Barrett's 'sliding doors' column:

If ....  we don't normally get too worked up with match-scheduling matters ...

then  .... we are this weekend. The Tigers-Hawks game is wasted in the 1.10pm Sunday slot.

Again, not really a fit for the sliding doors theme from Barrett, but I agree with this.

Melbourne Cricket Ground @MCG 7 hours ago

Big day tomorrow today, with 70-75,000 expected for Tigers v Hawks. Remember, it’s an early game (1.10pm) and gates open at 11.30am - avoid the queues before game time and arrive as early as possible.

Short across the HB line. Grigg is spoiled. From the throw-in, Hawks get a point.

Another kick (Macca) hitting a hawk defender at CHF.

We get it back and finally we take a mark inside F50. Lucky as it fell b/w two Hawks. Edwards 20m out. Goal  :gotigers

Ellis to Jack on the wing. Finds Cotch but the handball to Lambert puts us under pressure. Turnover. Hawk rebound and goal.

It appears Reece Conca has been given the job on Tom Mitchell this afternoon, but it's not working particularly well so far, as Mitchell leads all players with 11 disposals, four contested possessions and two clearances.
