Changes for the Port game?

We got through last night unscathed.

Fire away with your changes, if any, after our 71 point win?

Castagna will likely be back - probably for Jiggins which would be a bit harsh on the kid as he played a pretty good game

Don’t think anyone warrants to be dropped but if Georgie and Rioli are ready to go you think they come straight in. Higgins the obvious one to go out just based on position and he could use a rest not sure who the other would be.

Higgins came in for Castagna two weeks ago. For Rioli to come in as well then an outside flanker will have to make way unless Butler gets dropped. If it's last in first out then that's Menadue.

It's a tough gig picking the 22 these days after our wins as players dropped aren't necessarily having bad games  :-\. We've still got to fit Prestia and Houli back in the side as well after the bye.

Butler played a good game and doesn't deserve to be dropped.

Higgins out. Menadue out. Cant see any other obvious potential omissions.

Would like to see Rioli, Miles and Houli (if fit) come in. Georgie stiff. Tough to find 4 spots from last night's performance.

Port will put up more of a fight so I would love to see one of Prestia or Miles in. Don't know who to omit though based on last night's demolition. Tough choices ahead

Going by the club Prestia & Houli wont play until after the bye

I wouldnt play Rioli. I'd bring him back for the Geelong game and then he has a week off for the bye

INS: Castagna, Miles

OUTS: Menadue, Higgins

Thought Menadue was good that second half receiving the ball and breaking the lines, whether that was because Essendon were effectively defeated or he just gained some confidence I’m not too sure but like to see him get another week.

I think the pace of Menadue is a real asset to the team and he gets some continuity learning about his teammates and gets some confidence he will be a weapon for us and that’s why I wouldn’t drop him I’d give him games and assess him after the bye. Ellis was good in Houl’s position and Conca was better than last week.
I think we maybe should rest some of our guns on a rotation basis. Dusty or Cotchin this week.

Outs:
Cotchin (rest)
Macintosh(0 touches second half and only 1 after quarter time - not good enough for a wingman)

Ins:
Miles, Castagna
The club that keeps giving.

given its a 5 day break to the port game theres no way we'll bring in Rioli, reckon he'll play against geelong then have the week off for the bye - perfect way to bring him back.

Miles was huge today, he'd have to be a chance and George is an automatic inclusion, he'll be in no matter what if fit

In
Rioli

Out
Higgins

Happy for Miles to play at the expense of McIntosh.

George in for Higgins
Miles in for Conca (must reward Miles efforts)

I think the beauty of having players in our twos ready to step up is we can rotate players even this time of the season to keep guys fresh but more importantly hungry.

Conca out (or Ellis/Higgins) doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t good enough, it simply means
we can see others in their roll, and give these guys a rest. It’s a long year.

The other position I would like to see experimented with is Griggs. Could Bolta come in and play a similar roll with the help of a few others?? Could Caddy play that roll and we bring in another manic pressure player??
Grigg isn’t even going up in the ruck these days, he is basically just another midfielder (but slow) that isn’t great at the most important thing in our game style-pressure.

Regardless of who is in or out, I’m enjoying this season immensely, especially knowing we haven’t even played close to our best footy yet.
